May 31, 1983 THE DAILY TIMES 3 STATE LOCAL Police Beat Man Charged In Eden Shooting EDEN An Eden man was being held without bond late this morning after a Monday shooting at a Walnut Tree Road residence here which left 26-year-old Ronald T. Burton seriously injured, police said. Jerome J. Wright, 22, was charged with assault with intent to kill after his car was stopped in the Eden area by State Police Office William Glime about 90 minutes after the 6 shooting, police said.

Wright was reportedly arrested without incident. According to police, Burton was found lying in the front yard of his sister's Walnut Tree Road home suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side. First listed in critical condition at Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center in Salisbury, he had improved to stable by late this morning, according to a hospital spokesman. The state police helicopter assisted in the search for Burton, police said. Man Charged With Murder SNOW HILL A 23-year-old poultry worker was scheduled to appear before a judge for a bond review hearing here today after being charged Monday morning with the first degree murder of a co-worker.

A Worcester County sheriff's department spokeswoman said Cecil Simms of Snow Hill was denied bail after his arrest Monday at the Holly Farms hatchery on Route 12. Iva Richardson, 31, also of Snow Hill, was identified as the victim. The spokeswoman said Ms. Richardson was pronounced dead around 2:30 a.m. She received shotgun wounds to the chest at close range, the spokeswoman said.

Woman Charged With Stabbing CAMBRIDGE A Cambridge woman was scheduled to have a bond hearing today after being charged over the weekend in a stabbing incident. Miss Price was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery. Single's condition was upgraded today satisfactory, according to a Dorchester General Hospital spokeswoman. said Single was initially admitted May 29 at 3:20 a.m. in serious condition with injuries to his head and chest. The incident occurred as a result of a fight in a house on Pine Street, police said.

3 Charged With Attempted Theft SALISBURY A Salisbury woman and two local teen-agers have been charged by city police with tampering with a motor vehicle and attempted theft. Police said Lou Ann Walls, 20, of Johnson Road and a 17 and 16-year-old juvenile were arrested at Wyatt Wholesale on Snow Hill Road during the weekend. Police said the three have been accused of attempting to steal beer from a truck. SALISBURY Former Ocean City, Chamber of Commerce president J.D.
