PAGB EIGHT ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3,1060 Move to Annex All Of Rosewood Is Under Discussion WOOD RIVER Talk of a possible movement to annex the whole of Rosewood Heights toj 'Wood River erupted into the op-! here today. Mayor Delaney confirmed that the City Council had been approached by more than one person from the Rosewood Heights area to consider such a move. The proposed area would include territory approximately four times the size of the area outlined In an ordinance the city filed in County Court on Nov. 18 which included Lincoln Addition, directly to the north, and the Northwoods Section of Rosewood Heights, bounded by Airline Drive on the north and Ninth Street on the east. The Area According to a city spokesman, the new area would reach north across Airline drive, encompassing all residential territory from the East Alton village limits east to Old Bethalto road (Airport road), south along Vaughn's road to Harrison avenue and Ninth street, including all property within.

This area would include the Rosewood Heights business section, a proposed residential and commercial development to include the site for St. Kevin's parish church, a vast section of residential property south of Air- Ine drive and new and proposed developments north of Vaughn's road. The Council was approached, according to reports, so that Heights would not be taken "piece-meal" and so thai would preserve its identity and unified. 4 Fred Alsberg, treasurer of Heights Improvemen and a leader of the opposition to annexation plans as they now stand, previously had Basked "Why doesn't Wood River i.annex the entire community rath than take us piece meal?"
