She had one deceased grandson. Her first husband, James Ralph Hancock, died in 1963, and her second husband, James William Nichols, died in 1988.

Shock-ley, 73, of here, died at home Saturday, Sept 26 1992, of cancer. Born in Mardela Springs, he was a son of the late Luke ana Lyda W. Shockley. He retired in 1982 from his job as a pipe fitter for the Du Pont Co. in Seaford after 42 vears.

He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharp- town, bons ot the American revolution in Salisbury, Darwick American Legion Post 218 in Sharptown, Roel-ma Masonic Lodge 206 of Sharptown, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Sho' Forest 53 of Salisbury. He was a World War II Army veteran. Shockley is survived by his wife, Dorothy Shockley of Sharptown; a daughter, Patricia Malone of Seaford; a brother, Norris Shockley of Sharptown; two sisters, Frances Wright of Mardela Springs and Bet- Si Twilley of Salisbury; and a grand-aughter, Kimberly Malone of Seaford. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.

Wednesday at Mt Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharp-town. The Rev. John Bods will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of Jackson "J.C." Wallace of Eden and the late Lizzie Wallace. She was a member of Mills Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, Gary Simmons of Lincoln, a daughter, Keisha Wallace of Eden; four sisters, Jan-netta Wallace of Lake Worth, Alice McNeil of Fayetteville, N.C., and Joan Wallace and Clara Stewart, both of Eden: twin brothers, Albert Wallace of Capitol Heights, and Alvin Wallace of LeRoy Wallace of Lanham, the twin brother of Clara Stewart: and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury, where friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Hearn I OCEAN PINES Orlando W. Hearn. 69, of here, died at home Saturday, Sept 26, 1992. Born in Willards, he was the son of the late Weamys Hearn and Ida Wilkins Heam. He was a jockey in the thoroughbred racing industry.

He rode for the Walter M. Jeffers Stable, whose home base was at Glen Riddle Farm in Berlin. Hearn is survived by a son, Carlton W. Hearn of Billings, three daughters, Carol A Miller ana Janet McDaniel, both of Ocean Pines, and Patricia G. Lawrence of Jackson, 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Evelyn Evans of Lewes.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Cemetery in Willards. Friends may call at Ullrich Funeral Home, Berlin, from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Lawrence Hurley SALISBURY Lawrence Hurley, 72, of here, died at home Saturday, Sept 26, 1992, of cancer.

Born in Pikesville, he was a son of the late Nealy Hurley and Cora Pugh Hurley. He was a roofer who retired from Wood Richardson Son in 1982. He was currently employed by the Wicomico County Board of Education Transportation Department as a special class school bus assistant. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran of the European theater. Hurley is survived by his wife, Grace M.

Hurley of Salisbury; a daughter, Deborah Kay of Columbus, Ohio; two stepsons, Gene Scott and AT. Scott, both of Salisbury; two stepgrandchildren; four sisters, Laura Bishop of McVeigh, Myra Good of Belcher, Geraldine Thacker of Dayton, Ohio, and Dorothy Miller of Pittsville; three brothers. Kelley Hurley, Fairley Hurley ana James "Jay" Hurley, all of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews. Flossie E. Nichols DELMAR, Del. Flossie E. Nichols, 77, of here, died at home Saturday. Sept.

26. 1992. of heart failure. Born in Parsonsburg, she was a daughter of the late Lafayette and Florence J. Perdue.

She was a home-maker and retired chicken farmer. Dykes SALISBURY Robert B. Dykes of Airport Road here died at home Saturday. Sept.

26, 1992, of cancer. corn in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Purnell Carlton Dykes and Nina Waller Dykes. He was a salesman for JC-Penney Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1985 when he lived in Wilmington. He moved to Ocean View in 1986, and in 1990 moved to Salisbury.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Eu rope. He was a member of VFW Ocean View Post 7234, Masonic Unity Lodge 32 in Newport, DeL, Scottish Rite BodiesConsistory Lodge in the Valley of Wilmington, Kent and Sussex Scottish Rite Club of Delaware 00802, and Mariner's United Methodist Church in Ocean View. Dykes is survived by his wife, Jean Tilghman Dykes; a son, Joseph C. Dykes of Salisbury; two stepchildren, Robert Lee Tilgnman ana Peggy J. Medley, both of Salisbury; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Dykes of Salisbury; two sisters, Mary Poso of Fruitland and Doris Reid of Delmar, and several nieces and nephews.

John G. Channell, 46, of here and formerly of Salisbury, died as a result of an auto accident near St. Charles Thursday, Sept. 24, 1992. Born in Easton.

he was a son of John H. Channell of Williamsville. and Natalie Gannon-Channell of Salisbury. Channell is survived by his wife, Patrice Lydon Channell; two children, Chris Erik Channell and Re-nee Channell; two sisters, Sherry Haddaway of Poolesville, and Rozann Hemphill of Bishopville; a brother, William Channell of State College, and nine nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m.

Norma Lee G. Clouser LAUREL Norma Lee Gardner Clouser, 69, of here, died at home Saturday, Sept. 26. 1992, of cancer. Burn in Modest Town, she was a daughter of the late John and Lola L.

Gardner. She was a home-maker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Delmar, Md. She is survived by her husband, Albert W. Clouser of Laurel: a son, Albert W. Clouser Jr.

of Delmar, a daughter, Norma Jean Drumbore of Georgetown; a sister, Anna Mae Rice of Goldsboro, N.C.; 175" mi Cardinal Martin, aide to Pope VATICAN CITY (AP) Cardinal Jacques Martin, a close aide to Pope John Paul II who organized many of the pope's trips and traveled with him, died here Sunday. He was 84. Martin had been suffering heart trouble and died of a heart attack, the Vatican said. Born in Amiens, France, Martin worked in the Vatican's department of state from 1934 to 1969. That year, he was appointed head of the papal household, the department in charge of the pope's daily affairs.

John Paul named him cardinal in 1988 in recognition of his long service. Norbert Burger. Austrian extremist VIENNA Austria (AP) Norbert Burger, a neo-Nazi convicted in Italy for waging a terrorist campaign for the return of the Italian South Tyrol, died Sunday, the Austrian Press Agency said. He was 63. The agency said Burger died late Saturday of a long illness at his home in Kirchberg am Wechsel, about 40 miles southwest of Vienna.

1 Burger escaped conviction in several sensational trials in Austria and West Germany in connection with terrorist activities in the Italian territory, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire until the end of World War I. (AP) George H. Barbour, a former state legislator who once prosecuted a tavern owner for pulling a shotgun on The Rev. Martin Luther King died Wednesday of a heart attack. He was 75. Barbour, who was elected to the state assembly in 1961 and served into the 1970s, called King as a witness in the 1950 trial.

King, then a seminary student, had driven with friends to Maple Shade, where a tavern owner refused to serve the group. Ivar Ivask. writer and critic NORMAN. Okla. (AP) Ivar Ivask, an internationally known author and critic who founded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, died Wednesday in Ireland.

He was 64. The Neustadt Prize, given every two years since 1969, includes a cash award of $40,000. In the past 20 years, 15 Neustadt laureates, candidates or jurors have gone on to receive Nobel Prizes.
