Hardly had play resumed when Orr made a one-handed interception of another Aggie pass in midfield. The Aggies held and BYU was forced to punt for the first time in the game. Dee Whitesides fumbled the kick on the BYU 20 and Tibbetts recovered for the Cougars. Orr rifled a pass to who was. downed on line as the half tine Heckera ended.

contrast to the first half, the" third period was played almost entirely in midfield, being featured only by the Aggie lone drive which consisted of a long pass, Silcock to Wood. Wood was nailed on the Cougar 17. That was as far as the Aggies got and BYU took the ball on downs after Tibbetts, Mills and Lewis smothered Silcock's fourth down pass attempt. A 48-yard drive gave the Sons of Brigham their touchdown in the last quarter. faded back and passed to Mel Anderson who gathered in the pigskin on the Aggie 14 and ran to the nine.

Anderson made three on a reverse, the Aggies were penalized five yards for too many times out and Jerry Marking plunged over for the score. Lloyd kicked the extra point, the fourth straight BYU conversion. From the opening kickoff it: was apparent the Cougars were due for a field day, although they were goal shy the first three times they threatened. After one minute of play Gail Lewis recovered an Aggie fumble on the Utah State 31 and Longhursts and Gardner drove to the six-yard line where the Aggies held. Utah State punted out but Grant Mulleneaux threw a long pass to Chipman who was tackled on the Aggie 10.

George Wing fumbled and the Aggies recovered on the five. Redskins today showed 16,000 a supposedly strong opposing thoroughly scalped, by trouncing rado football team, 46 to 6. The victory over the Colorado Buffaloes, previously unbeaten in conference play, put Utah, defending Big Seven conference champion, on top of the Mountain States circuit standings along with Brigham Young university. Neither the Utes nor BYU has lost a conference game, although Utah has been tied twice and BYU but once.

It was the 16th victory for Utah over Colorado in an intercollegi- to Mills who was downed on the Aggie 10. 1 The Aggies braced and took the ball on downs on the three-yard line. After that the Cougars apparently became tired of being thwarted and began their second period scoring orgy. Chamberlain, Bird, Nilsen, Lewis and Mills were BYU standouts on the line with Longhurst stealing the spotlight in the backfield. For the Aggies, Silcock, Whitesides and Axelgard looked best.

Coach Eddie Kimball of BYU, said following the game, "It was a hard-fought game. The boys played good ball. I.am happy that we came out without any serious injuries." Dick Romney, Aggie coach: "BYU had too much power for us. I rate this team the best the Cougars have ever had. However, we were hampered the loss of Mel Manning, Marv 'Bell and Bill Twitchell who were out with injuries.

The BYU-Colorado game should be a beautiful one. Both teams are powerful but I believe the Cougars have more speed." BECAUSE of the statements made concerning the undersigned in town and through the press, we want to BELIEVE the City Commission and City Government should BE non-partisanBUT not non-partisan like Commissioner McGuire, Commissioner Harmon and Mayor Harding believe it should be (as it now is) a nonpartisan Republican government! NOTE: During the last six years all of Provo's mayors and city commissioners. have been Republicans (elected and appointed), although the nation, state and county have been Democratic. An overwhelming majority of all appointive officeholders are and have been Republicans, as well as the common laborers employed. This Condition Is No Accident! BUT THE RESULT-of the most subtle (foxy) partisan politics! WE BELIEVE Democrats as well as Republicans should be elected in Provo.

Democrats, as well as Repubicans, appointed and hired by our nonpartisan government. NEITHER PARTY has all the ability, dependability, and strong backs in Provo. WE BELIEVE it healthy and wise to eleet some Democrats in Provo and insure a genuine, partisan government. Signed-LeROY JOHNSON, ELMER L. Colorado has 17 wing in the series and there have been two ties. Start Out EvenThe teams fought on fairly even terms for the first quarter with one unconverted touchdown for each. Utah went into the lead in the second, with another touchdown, put across three more in the third period and went into the fourth stanza with third and fourth teams but still managed to tally 13 points. The most spectacular play of the game came within two minutes after the kickoff when Izzy Spector, the outstanding back on the star-studded Utah team, cut inside the Colorado left end behind perfect interference, crossed the field, then returned to the middle of the turf and made a bee-line for the goal, which he crossed standing up. Colorado came back to score its six points five minutes later.

The Buffaloes had the ball on the Utah 47. Quarterback Maurice Reilly dropped back to midfield and lofted a pass to End Stan on the Utah 23. Hendrickson juggled the ball, accidentally tossed it into the airbut caught it before hit the ground and ran over for a touchdown. Just before the half, the Utah Addelt brothers' team went into action. Huck Adelt tossed a pass from his own 45 to Gay Adelt on the Colorado 27 and Gay went over for the score. The third quarter was plain massacre for the Indians. three-period touchdowns came on a pass from Gay Adelt to Mecham on his own 13 after a sustained march, on an end around by Mack Speedie from the Colorado 26 after a fumble Colorado's famed Paul McClung and on a pass from Mecham to Speedie that resulted in an interference penalty to the Colorado one, Mecham going over for the score. In the fourth quarter every man on the Utah suad saw service.

The first touchdown in this period was on a pass from Huck Adelt to Hatch good for 16 yards. The second came when McClung fumbled again, Utah recovered, and Wiscomb passed to Spendlove who took the ball as it rolled from the backs of two Colorado players and stepped over the goal line. Region Three teams this week play the final round of the schedule with Provo and Loncoln much nearer loop titles after victories in Friday's play. Lincoln has only to hurdle the weak Spanish Fork team to clinch Class title, and the Tigers showed they have the power to down the Forkers by tripping American Fork Cavemen Friday, 7-0. Provo's 32-13 triumph over Payson in the stadium boosted the Bulldogs nearer the league title and a triumph over Springville this week will move Green Wave into the state semifinals. Vikings TriumphPleasant Grove remained in the running for the class title by turning back Spanish Fork, 25- 20, with a thrilling last-minute touchdown victory. Lehi stepped out of regional competition and was promptly slapped down by Park City, 12- 0.

The Provo-Payson game was a rough, slam-bang thriller, featuring long runs, intercepted passes, and a fierce rivalry. Bulldog power conquered over Payson speed and fight-but not until after the Lions, sparked by an elusive fullback, B. Fowler, gave the Provo club a real scare. Provo scored a touchdown in each of the first three periods, then threatened by the Lions, pushed two across in the final stanza. Bulldogs PassPasses set up the first Buldog score, with Chad Clark passing to Garth Ford and then to Ken Duke to place the ball on the Payson 13 shortly after the opening kickoff.

Mark Nilsen cracked a over center for the score on the first play, then converted. It was Nilsen who set up the second score by blasting through the center of the line for a 28- yard romp, and Clark scored offtackle from the stripe, and Nilsen again converted. Long RunAfter Clark rambled 63 yards to place the ball deep into scoring territory, the half ended to drive, a blocked kick on the Payson 25 set up the Provo touchdown in the third quarter. Clark passed to Duke on the 15, and then went around end to' score. The kick was blocked.

Then, the Payson club, which has been threatening to start fireworks all afternoon, really began clicking. Fowler, a sub fullback, exploded through the line on one of the Lions' quick-opening plays and romped down the sidelines 60 yards to score. Fowler AgainAgain Fowler carried the mail, packing the ball 50 yards to the Provo 25 on two plays and scoring on a reverse from the 13. Clyde Heath converted, pushing the Lions to within 13-20 of the victors. Then, Payson threatened again and seemed headed for the tying touchdown when what might be called the turning of the game occurred.

Mahlon Rasmuson point, grabbed a Lion pass on his own 10-yard line and raced it back to midfield to pull Provo out of a bad hole. From there on down the field, Rasmuson plunged the middle, swept the ends, and ripped offtackle to lead his team to another touchdown. After leading interference most of the afternoon, Rasmuson scored from the one-yard marker. Longest run of the day was Rasmuson's-72-yard jaunt which was called back. Final Score Provo's final score came just before the end of the game.

With the clock ticking off the closing seconds, Provo called time out after every play, losing five yards on penalties each time but managing to score on a pass from Chad Clark to Leon Ford. Lincoln capitalized on an early break score against 'American Fork then staved off Cavemen threats to move closer the title. Tigers Get BreakTiger punt rolled out on the three I line, and the Forkers able to kick out only to the 21, from where Ralph: Peterson and Ed Reesha alternated in driving to the goal, Reesha finally scoring.
