WEATHER THE RECORD Wednesday, February 17, 1988 Vineland Times Journal 7 On the Record Police Vineland Ghansham Ramesh Goberdham was arrested on an aggravated assault charge and two weapons charges after a domestic dispute in which he threatened a victim with a knife. Thieves took a 400-pound safe and $532 in cash this weekend from the Chestnut Assembly of God, 1213 E. Chestnut Ave. The unknown suspects apparently entered the church through an open door and then broke into a locked office where the safe was kept. Unsuccessful in breaking into the safe, the suspects apparently took the door off the safe, later carrying it away with the money, police said.

Police arrested an Elmer woman in connection with two accidents on Delsea Drive. Born in Waynesville, N.C., she lived in the Newport area since 1945 and was a homemaker. Surviving are eight sons, L.V., Willis, James, William, Lewis, Eugene, and Thomas, all of Millville, and Troy of Hickory, N.C.; four daughters, Willie Mae Shelton of Millville; Virginia Summers of Port Norris; Nellie Clements of Pennsville, and Mary Taylor of Newport; two brothers, Leo Messer of Millville, and Kaywood Messer of Canton, N.C.; five sisters, Bertha Conard, Fronie Phillips, Edith Presly, and Alvie Rose, all of Waynesville, Anne Rieck, 73 Anne Rieck of Greeley, a former Millville area resident and Vineland school teacher, died Monday in the North Colorado Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 73. Born in Vineland, she lived in the Millville area most of her life. She was a special education teacher in the Vineland school system, and a member of the New Jersey Education Association.

Mrs. Rieck also was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church, Millville. Surviving are a daughter, less driving, refusal to submit to a Breathalizer test and driving an uninsured vehicle. Police tracked down Valerie after drivers of the two vehicles involved in the accidents reported the car's license plate number.

An attendant at the BP Gas Station, Chestnut Avenue and Delsea Drive, told police that an elderly man in a blue truck drove away from the station without paying for $9 in gas. Javier Adorno, 30, of 519 Landis Ave. was arrested for burglary and three counts of contempt of court for failing to appear in Vineland and field Township Municipal Courts. He is being held in lieu of $3,000 cash bail. Two Vineland juveniles were arrested for shoplifting at the Jamesway Department Store.

The teenagers allegedly stole items worth $181.46, including jeans, shirts and undergarments. Mrs. Bortle formerly had been employed by Rossi Cleaners on East Boulevard for 20 years, and was a member of the Cumberland County Board of Elections. Survivors include two sons, Frank S. Jr.

and Wilbur "Bill" II, both of Vineland; a daughter, Helen M. Fanelli, with whom she resided; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted by the Rev. John Fordyce, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, at 11 a.m. Friday in the Pancoast Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Lillian Rebekah Lodge services will begin at 7:30. N.C., and Sarah Jane Phillips of Millville; 50 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and three great -grandchildren.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Alex Thompson, pastor of the Newport Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Christy Funeral Home. He will be assisted by the Rev. Gerritt Kenyon of the First Assembly of God Church, Millville.

Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and again Saturday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedarville Rescue Squad. Sandra Maltese of Arvada, two brothers, Lewis Dale and Nick D'Allesandro, both of Vineland; two sisters, Betty Garofalo and Antoinette Petretti, both of Vineland, and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Magdalen Church. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday and again at 9 a.m. Saturday. Theresa (Sposato) Venditti, 61 Theresa (Sposato) Venditti of Vineland, a former associate in the Venditti Florist Shop, died Tuesday in Newcomb Medical Center. She was 61. Born in Chittinango, N.Y., she was a Vineland resident for the last 50 years.

Mrs. Venditti was a Vineland High School graduate, a former employee of the Kimble Glass and a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Church, East Vineland. She also was associated with her late son, Daniel N. Venditti, in operation of the florist shop.
