April showers bring Spring flowers but your florist brings them sooner! They are available now fresh Spring flowers to arrange with elegant artistry yourself, or just dump into a vase-lined basket as though you'd gathered them fresh from a field. Picture them.

Sunny yellow daffodils, perfumed hyacinths, regal iris and graceful, satiny tulips in a rainbow of colors. Add to these forsithia, velvety pussy willow and flowering branches of plum and cherry blossoms and you'll see why Spring is In your florist's window, if not outside his door or yours. Here's what florists suggest to prolong the life of the flowers once they're home: Always buy tulips, daffodils, iris and hyacinth tightly budded. Cut all flower stems on a slant across the bottom. Use a knife, because scissors pinch stems and make it harder for the blossoms to soak up water.

Put the flowers wrapped in the florist's paper Into a container of cool water for an hour or two. For best results arrange tall flowers in the rear of a vase and short flowers up front. Flowers should look natural in the vase not wired into tortuous shapes to achieve a forced floral effect. You really don't even need a lot of flowers. Just a few blooms look lovely if balanced with a few florist greens.

Iris and daffodils last better in two or three Inches 6t water. Tulips, however, need water covering about 13 of their stems. Freshen water when necessary and change it when It becomes discolored. Some people recommend adding aspirin or a penny to the water to freshen flowers and keep the water "pure."
