Slaw son, requesting the appointment of some other person than oil, to ring tne bell at Wood a Cot ton Tress, lor reasons assignea Dy mm. ug motion of Recorder Bright, the Chief of Police Is directed to select from the police a person satisfactory to Mr. Slawson, to ring the said bell, pursuant to the resolution of the Common Council on that subject. A communication was received from the Chief of Police, enclosing suspensions of policemen and on motion, the Investigation was fixed for Thursday next, the parties and witnesses to be notified.

A communication wos received from the Execu tive Committee of the House of Refuge, recommending certain parties for appointment in the Refuge and on motion of Recorder Wiltz, the same was laid on the table, subject to call. The charges preferred by N. C. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Pending the reading of tha minutes, Recorder Fabre appeared and took his seat. On motion of Recorder Wiltz, the Board took a recess of one hour, to consult upon the nominations to be made. The recess having expired, the Board resumed iU sitting, all tha members present On motion of Recorder Wiltz, tbe Board proceeded to the election, of ten sergeants of the police. Recorder Wilts naminated Charlea IL Forno aa sergeant, who having received the votes of four Recorders wag declared elected.

Recorder Fabre nominates Adolph Labadie ag sergeant, who received the votes of Recorders Bright, Fabre and Wiltz, and was elected Recorder Jackson voting; blank. Recorder Wiltz nominates Louis Power ag sergeant, who received the game vote and was elected. Recorder Fabre nominates Isaac Alexander Squares as sergeant, who received the same vote and wag elected. Recorder Bright nominates Thomas IL Drvden as sergeant, who received the same vote and was elected. Recorder Wiltz nominates Joseph Salvatorv as sergeant, who having received the votes of Recorders Bright, Fabre and Wiltz was elected; Recorder Jackson voting blank.
