(AP) -Ann Louise Harmeier, 20, could be considered nothing more than a statistic one of thousands of persons reported missing each year, in time, destined to be erased from police com-x puters and human memories. But the lifelong resident of Cambridge City is a symbol of the ability of the 4,000 persons who live in this small eastern Indiana community and adjacent towns to come together. The people are searching for Miss Harmeier and they won't give up until they find her.

On Sept. 12, the Indiana University junior loaded her car and headed for the campus in Bloomington, about 105 miles away. She stopped at service stations several times because she was having car trouble. She was last seen standing outside her disabled car along Indiana 37 less than 20 miles from campus. Where is Ann? On Friday, authorities exhumed a body from the San Juan municipal cemetery in hopes of checking dental records to determine positively whether the corpse found July 29 on a country rqad in rural Ciales was that of Shafizadeh, who disappeared on his way here carrying $250,000 in diamonds. But on Saturday morning, a visibly upset Dr. Rafael Criado, chief pathologist of the Institute of Legal Medicine, announced that the exhumed body was not the one found in Ciales.

In the ensuing hours, authorities dug up three more graves two more John Does and the plot of a G. "Never in my wildest nightmares did I think we'd spend all day Saturday watching them exhume bodies." said Dalya Shafizadeh-Hakimi, Farokh's wife, a recent graduate in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Police said they might exhume another body today, but since it was buried with a name, the relatives of that person will have to grant permission. One of the bodies exhumed Saturday also carried a name, but police said permission was not needed because the man had no survivors.
