The lanky rijrhthanded pitcher, a member of the Baltimore Oriole a system, is performing for Dublin, in the Class Georgia-Florida League. Karlier Ihis season Mankovich was credited with the first shutout pitched by a member of the Dublin hill staff when he heal Brunswick by a 6-0 score. At a lime il was only (he third whitewashing in the league. Another district boy performing in the pro leagues turned in a season first for his ball club.

Don LeJohn, the Daisytown native, is playing for Des Moines in the League, a Class A circuit. He banged the initial home run of the season for his team. Ben Mateosky, another former North Union High student who turned to professional baseball, has returned to action for the Charleston team of the American Assn. after having been out of action for more a a week with injuries. Fran Boniar, the South Union product, is still just pinch-hitting and serving as a late inning outfield replacement for leading Montreal in the Class AAA International League.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been a big disappointment to their California followers but it has been no fault of Jeffersnn High's Dick Gray. The rookie i sacker has stroked the ball at a .296 clip with four home runs and I.I RBIs although sidelined for a spell with injuries. When Cleveland sent former Uniontown Coal Baron pitcher Clarence Churn to Seattle in the Pacific Coast League he joined a Fayettc County native on the Rainers' mound staff. Connellsville'g Bob Garber is pitch ing for Seattle. Both are former Pittsburgh Pirate farmhands.

Turning fo football Brownsville's Andy Sepsi, Connellsville's Jim Cunningham and South Union's Dennis Dvorchak all saw action Saturday in the Pitt Blue-White game which concluded the spring training season. The three Fayette County boys were on the White team which lost a 29-0 decision. Connellsville High product Dare Hart who is now head football coach at Johnslown High School nixed nn offer to become an assistant coach at Arizona Slate at Tempe. California Teachers College has been conducting spring football drills and Redstone's George Kupcts i the running for the quarterback position with thi school. The final score found Wilkinsburg with 57 points to 50 for Abe t'verharl's Maroon and White McKcesport made a ingly strong showing lo lake third with 41 1 points followed in order by Greensburg, German. 17V4; Canonsburg, I4V4, and Connellsville, 13. Wilkinsburg's margin of victory came in its ability to grab off first places. The meet winner took six firsl places and it pro vidcd the difference.

McKcsporl weighed In with three firsl while Uniontown. German and Greensburg each captured two first places. It was a record breaking night with 10 new marks set in this the seventh renewal of the Invi lalional.
