Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Sullivan Nix of Winona; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Neal of Winona and Mrs. Katie Upton of Brookhaven; five sons, Jimmy Nix, Don Nix, Flip Nix, Barry Nix and Larry Nix, all of Winona; his sister, Mrs.

Beatrice Dixon of Winona; 24 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Vickie Marie Parson Ms; Vickie Marie Parson, 32, resident of Greenwood, died after a lengthy illness Saturday, August IS, 1992 at her residence in Greenwood. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Charles R. Blaylock, and a native of Montgomery County. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16 at New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. B.C Nunn officiating.

Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Gant, Herbert Blaylock, Billy Costilow, R.W. Palmertree, Bobby Palmertree and Bubba Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Costilow and Kevin Carter. Survivors include her parents, Charles R.

and Jewel Anita Meriwether Blaylock, both of Winona; her daughter, Miss Trina Marie Parson of Winona; her son, Justin Ray Parson of Winona; two brothers, Donald Edward Blaylock and William Marcus Blaylock, both of Winona; and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Winnie Blaylock of Winona. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. James Gary Laster Funeral services were held Friday, August 14, 1992 for James Gary Laster, 66, resident of Fern Creek, Kentucky. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.

Mr. Laster died Tuesday, August 11 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the husband of Mrs. Lavern Greer Laster. A native of Duck Hill, Mr.

Laster was a retired employee of Brown-Forman Corporation, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a member of Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge and a Baptist. Mr. Laster was preceded in death by a brother, Harris Laster of Duck Hill and a sister, Margaret Folse of New Orleans. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Lavern Greer Laster of Fern Creek, Kentucky; two sons, Thomas B. Laster of Fallon, Nevada and Scott P. Laster of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Bobby Laster of Raymond, John Laster of Duck Hill and Joe Raymond Laster of Concord, North Carolina; two sisters, Lula Mitchell of Indianapolis, Indiana and Evelyn McMullen of Pickens; and two grandchildren. Foreman Funeral Home of Jeffersontown was in charge of the arrangements. Newton Mitchell, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Newton Mitchell, 68, resident of Winona, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 1992 at North Winona Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank Bishop ficiating assisted by Rev. A.L.

Hatten. Burial followed in Winona Garden of Memory. Mr. Mitchell died after a brief illness Monday, August 10 at University Hospital in Jackson. He was the son of the late Mr.

and Mrs. James Newton Mitchell and the husband of Mrs. Sammie Lane Woods Mitchell. A native of Pearl River County, Mr. Mitchell was a retired school teacher and coach.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Winona High School in 1949-1950, and later moved to Aldine Junior High School in Houston, Texas where he served as head football coach and led his team to three consecutive Gulf Coast championships. Mr. Mitchell was also a former manager of the Trinity-Portland Cement Plant in Lake Charles, Louisiana for nine years, and later taught in the Klein, Texas school district. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Winona Masonic Lodge, and a member and deacon at North Winona Baptist Church.

Survivors include bis wife, Mrs. Sammie Lane Woods Mitchell of Winona; his daughter, Mrs. Patti Michele Ricks of Elliott; his son, Bruce Steven Mitchell of Grenada; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Branson and Mrs. Anni Lou Jones, both New Orleans, Louisiana; and two grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Garland Collins, Billy Ferguson, Marshall Bennett, Lawrence Bras-well, Benny Braswell and Alfred Hodges. Honorary pallbearers were Morris Bennett and Barney Up-church. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Leonard A. Nix Mr.

Leonard A. Nix, 65, resident of Winona, died after a lengthy illness Friday, August 7, 1992 at his residence. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E.

Nix and the husband of Mrs. Katie Sullivan Nix. A native of Montgomery County, Mr. Nix was a retired installed for South Central Bell, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Scotland Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at Scotland Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 9 with the Rev. Norris Corley officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mark Worsham. Interment followed in Scotland Cemetery.
