OBITUARY. Died quietly and peaceably at his home near New Kingston, on the 31st day of January, Joseph Kanaga, in the 961I1 year of his age. It oeema proper when one who has lived almost a generation beyond the time allotted to man, and whrsa loss is so deeply felt in the community where he has livid so many years, should when be has gone away forever, reooive more than a passipg notioe. Joseph Kanaga was born in Chester oounty ia 1785. His father, who was a farmer, removed 10 New Kingston ia 1805 and bought of Joseph Jaokia a farm just north of and contiguous to the village.

This farm he eave to his boo, the father removing to Big Spring. Ou the farm there Btands to-day an old stone house built one hundred and five years ago, and in this house and on this iarni were passed the days of early manhood, sturdy, aotive middle life and ripa old age of the subject of this memoir. Up to within a very Bbort time of his death he possessed all bis mental faculties In fall vigor. Be often recarred to tne days of his early childhood. He frequently spuke of Washington, whom he had twice seen, and of the halcyon days of the nickel and the spinning wheel, or 10 of trie terrible days in the latter part of the 18.
