Lehigh Class of 22 put Arthur Kreitz, owned Losey and Co. Inc. Arthur A. "Togie" Kreitz, 93, formerly of White Heron Lake, Marshalls Creek, and Easton, died Monday, Aug. 30, in Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township.

He was the husband of Lucy (Riegel) Bid-well Kreitz for 30 years in May and the late Mary Ann (Helm) Kreitz. He worked for Losey and Company Palmer Township, retiring after 50 years as president and owner. He previously worked for the former Met-Ed Easton. Born in Raubsville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Alice (Lip-pincott) Kreitz. He was a stepson of the late Emma Brotzman Kreitz.

He was a member and former trustee of the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Williams where he was a past Sunday school teacher and council member. He was a 50-year member of Easton Masonic Lodge 152, and a Bender's Coal Yard Mabel I. Eckert, 83, formerly of Moore Township, died Sunday, Aug.

29, in Gracedale, Upper Naza reth Township. She was the wife of the late Granville C. Eckert. She owned the former Bender's Coal Yard, Benders Junction, Moore Township, until retiring in 1955. Born in Moore Township, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Beulah (Hummel) Bender.

She was a former member of Salem United Church of Christ, Moorestown. Survivors: Sons, Ronald S. and Russell both of Moore Township; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, George G.

Frede, 81, of Telford, formerly of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Aug. 29, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the wife of the late Herbert Frede. She was a packager for 20 years in the production department of Reisman Pretzel, formerly Philadelphia. Bora in Wuergassen, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Franz and Therese (Dienant) Dreier.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she was active in the Silver and Gold Club. Survivors: Son, Anton Helmut of St. Mary's, Ga; daughter, Chris-ta, wife of Horst W. He was the husband of Maria (Krawchenko) Sowerschennyi for 51 years. He was employed for many years at the former Style Parlor Frame Green Lane, retiring as manager in 1979.

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, he was a son of the late Daniel and Pauline (Zedorozna) Sowerschennyi. He was a former member of the of the Ukrainian-American Senior Citizens Association of Philadelphia. Transue, 62, of All mtown R.4, died Monday, Aug. 30, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of Gary C. Transue: They were married for 41 years last September.

She was a buyer for the past 10 years for Zie-ger and Son Wholesale Florists, Allentown. Previously she was a cook for 18 years for the Dieruff highs-chool cafeteria, Allentown, and worked at the test center of Bell Telephone, Allentown and Bethlehem. Born in Cherryville, she was a daughter of Joyce E. (Easterday) Hofmann of Allentown and the late William F. Hofmann.

He was the husband of Arlene (Green) Rohn. They were married for 58 years last January. He was a laborer for the former East Mauch Chunk Borough, until retiring. Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Maurice and Sadie (Engleman) Rohn. He was a Catholic.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served in Company 820th Engineers Battalion, as a technical sergeant in Normandy, the Rhineland, northern France and central Europe. A graduate of Lehigh University, he was employed for Over 30 years at Revere Copper Products, retiring in 1985. Born in Reading, he was a son of Mamie (Dissinger) Bingaman of Reading and the late Adam Bingaman. He was an Air Force veteran. Tuesday and a.m. Wednesday. I George A.F. Stutz 99, Lehigh University Class of 22, died Monday, Aug. 30, in Palmerton Hospital.

He was the husband of Marie M. (Steigerwalt) Stutz for four years last November, and the late Made leine (Spilman) Stutz. He resided at 434 Edgemont Palmerton. A regular fixture at Lehigh events Stutz's death came just hours after attending Lehigh's freshmen rally to welcome the Class of 2003. He carried in the Class of 22 flag, and was given a two-minute standing ovation by the crowd of freshman students, alumni and Lehigh officials.

Francis Figlear, a senior development associate at Lehigh called Stutz "Mr. Lehigh" and said Stutz was associated with the university since arriving as a freshman in 1918. "Lehigh was obviously his love. He was a completely devoted alumnus who never wavered in his support of this university." Figlear said that he and Stutz spent some of Stutz's final hours at the rally, where Stutz expressed a desire to attend just one more annual Lehigh-Lafayette game in a tradition that Stutz observed more than 70 times. Stutz remained active in Lehigh affairs for several decades, serving at various times as class reunion chairman, class president, class treasurer, class correspondent and class agent.

He also served as chairman of Lehigh's planned giving efforts since 1995 and was a member of the Reunion Back Every Year Club. From 1951 to 1952, he served as president of the Alumni Association. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1922; and his master's in physics in 1924 from Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a doctorate in physics in 1929. Stutz retired in 1966 as manager of technical sales of the former New Jersey Zinc Palmerton, where he worked for 44 years. Born in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late George A.

Sr. and Wilhelmina (Fey) Stutz. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a recipient of the Golden Deeds award from the Palmerton Exchange Club in 1973, and took a "best of show" trophy in 1971 from the Palmerton Camera Club.

Survivors: Wife; daughters, Marjorie, wife of Edward Turner of Warrenton, Eleanor, wife of William Kirlin of Brevard, N.C., Carolyn, wife of Gary Mitchell of Durham, N.C.; stepson, David Hen-ritzy of Lehighton; brother, Frank A. of Washington, D.C., eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Church Slatington, who died Saturday, are nieces and nephews. Helen G. Fuller, 87, of Pennsburg Manor, formerly of North Plainfield, N.J., who died Friday, was born in Glendale, Long Island, N.Y. Her birthplace was incorrect in Sunday's obitu-rary. planned to retire.

Shurmur spent five seasons with the Packers and was instrumental in the team's run to consecutive Super Bowl appearances. He also served as a defensive coach with the Phoenix Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the New England Patriots and the Detroit Lions. Shurmur joined the Packers in 1994, replacing current Green Bay head coach Ray Rhodes as defensive coordinator. Shurmur was the Rams' defensive coordinator from 1983-90, and in 1989 he developed a 2-5 "Eagle" defense to deal with personnel shortages. Los Angeles finished fifth in the NFC that year.

He spent three years in Phoenix before joining the Packers. Shurmur was known as a defensive innovator and a premiere teacher of the game. He wrote four books on defense and coached for his entire adult life, beginning in 1954 as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Albion (Mich.) College. He was a defensive coach at the University of Wyoming from 1962-70 and head coach at the school from 1971-74. A native of Wyandotte, he held a master's degree in education and received an honorary doctorate from Albion in 1997.

He worked in the maintenance department of Berks Products, Kutztown and Reading, for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Teamsters Local 429, Reading. Born in Weisenberg Township, he was a son of the late Milton Peiffer and Edith (Smith) Peiffer George. He was a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, New Tripoli. Fritz Shurmur, coached defenses in the NFL GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) Fritz Shurmur dedicated his life to studying, teaching and changing football. His imprint on the game and the men he taught to play it will be slow to fade. Shurmur, the Seattle Seahawks' defensive coordinator and the architect of the defense that led the Green Bay Packers to their 1997 Super Bowl victory, died of cancer at his home Monday. He was 67.

Shurmur spent two decades as a defensive coordinator for five teams and had the longest continuous tenure of any coordinator. He joined Seattle in January when Mike Holmgren was hired as the Seahawks' coach and GM after seven seasons in Green Bay. Shurmur returned to the Green Bay area for treatment of esophageal and liver cancer, which was found during a routine checkup in May.
