The scratch division title was won by a team representing Rossi Lanes. Chuck Pitts (784), Dan Fish Jr. (659), Rob Heuser (569), Mark D'Angelo Jr. (786) and Jim Pitts (665) combined for a 3,463 total. Rossi Lanes No.

2 was second with 3,439, and Louie's Pro Shop was third with 3,434. D'Angelo had one of the two 300 games in the event, and leads the all-events competition with his 786 series. Bill Drake had the other 300 game. Doubles and singles are this weekend at Rossi Lanes, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday Entries are still being accepted.

NEWS AND NOTES: Crystal Lanes will host the Crystal City Classic on Nov. 18 and 19. The entry fee is $25, and first prize is an estimated $600. This is a scratch tournament with three games of qualifying over six lanes. Squad times are 1 and 2:30 p.m.

on Saturday, and 9 and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The finals are slated for 1 p.m. Sunday and will be a one-game double- elimination format for the top 16 qualifiers. Applications are available at all area bowling centers! The Valley Bowling Center will hold a Fall Sweeper on Saturday, Nov.

18. First prize is a guaranteed $1000; entry fee is $50. The format is six games across 12 lanes. The field is limited to the first 112 bowlers and one in five will cash. The action gets under way at 1 p.m.

Smith, of West Elmira, is the younger of the two at 64. He bowled his second career 800 series in the Hardinge Men's League last Monday night at Rossi Lanes. Using a Red Hammer, he bowled games of 289, 267 and 244 for an 801 series.

"I felt energetic," Nelson said. "Everything just fell into place." Van Horn, of Pine City, is "77 years young" and has been in the zone over the past two weeks.
