SMITH Star-Gazette It seems like every day is a holiday for newlyweds Melissa and Peter Vimislik. The groom proposed to his bride on Christmas Eve, 1988. "He gave me this huge box stuffed with papers. At the bottom was a tiny ring box. When I opened it there was a note saying, 'Look at I looked at him and he had the ring in his hand," Melissa Vimislik said.

"He got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. The romantic proposal led to a five-year engagement. Both wanted to complete their educations before being married. The wedding took place just five days before another holiday Thanksgiving. The couple spent their honeymoon touring the New England states, and celebrated Thanksgiving with a dinner at a little inn along the way.

For their first Christmas as a married couple, they traveled from their home in Rochester back to the Southern Tier to be with their families. It seems only appropriate for this couple that Monday is Valentine's Day. "We are celebrating with a quiet evening at home," the bride said. "We'll have a nice dinner on our new china we received as a wedding gift. Just the two of us." The wedding of Melissa Kaye Brace and Peter Alan Vimislik took place Nov.
