Mitchell COLUMBIA Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home for Reese H. Mitchell, 80, of Columbia, who died June 6, 1989 at Walthall County Hospital.

The Rev. John Noone will officiate. Interment will be in Singley Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Columbia and a carpenter.

Survivors include two sons, Reese H. Mitchell of Columbia and Aubrey Mitchell of Columbia; two brothers, Carroll E. Mitchell of Sinton, Texas, and Byrd Mitchell of Falmouth, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Lela F. Heggins MAGEE Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Oakdale Methodist Church in Covington County for Lela F. Heggins, 90, of Hattiesburg, who died June 6, 1989 at the Hattiesburg Convalescent Center. Interment will be in Saulters Cemetery.

Mrs. Heggins was a native of Covington County and a member of the Church of God in Delhi, La. Survivors include one son, Doyle Penton of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Vernice Southall of Warden, five sisters, Minnie Windham of Hattiesburg, Mamie Pittman of Columbia, Maggie Lofton of Prentiss, Clara Peterson of Collins and Mary Kinnard of Sumrall; one brother, Jennings Davis of Hattiesburg; and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mims-Mitchell Funeral Home in Magee is in charge of George Boochie Sr. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m.

Saturday at Ebeneezer Baptist Church for George Washington Boochie 62, of Hattiesburg, who died June 2, 1989 at Forrest General Hospital. The Rev. Otis Fleeton will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mr.

Boochie was retired from the railroad. He was a member of Ebeneezer Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ber-nice Boochie of Hattiesburg; four daughters, Emma L. Humphrey of Long Beach, Evelyn M. Riggs of Norwalk, Gwendolyn Curtis and Sandra Boochie, both of Hattiesburg; four sons, Clifton L.

Boochie of Long Beach, George W. Boochie Jr. of Hattiesburg, Donnis L. Boochie of Laurel and Dwight L. Boochie of Germany; his mother, Ceola Boochie Wallace of Hattiesburg; three sisters, Mary Lee Hunt and Dessieree Barrett, both of Los Angeles, and Annie Louise Staton of San Diego, three brothers, Eddie Lee Boochie, Mose Boochie and James C.

Boochie, all of Hattiesburg; and 19 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Golden Gate Funeral Home is in charge of Wade K. Hughes LAUREL Services are scheduled for 1 p.m.

Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home for Wade Kelly Hughes, 28, of Laurel, who died June 6, 1989 at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, La. The Rev. Burt Edwards and the Rev. Ed Clarkson will officiate. Interment will be in Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel.

Mr. Hughes was a former Jaycee and a member of the Krewe of Olympus in New Orleans. Survivors include his parents, Wesley and Martha Hughes of Laurel; one brother, Wesley H. "Wess" Hughes Jr. of Laurel; and two sisters, Mrs.

W.V. (Jimmie) Tomlison of Argyle, and Mrs. Warren (Big Bill) Hughes of Columbia, S.C. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

Roy Amos Roy Amos, 79, of Petal, died June 7, 1989 at Methodist Hospital. Century Funeral Home of Hattiesburg is in charge of arrangements. Viola L. Pitts LAUREL Mrs. Viola Long Pitts, 77, of Laurel, died June 8, 1989 at her residence.

Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sarah Rodriguez Sarah Rodriguez, 65, formerly of Hattiesburg, died June 7, 1989 at her residence in Cleveland, Ohio. Owens and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lottie F. McLendon Services are scheduled for 10 a.m.

Friday at Brooklyn First Baptist Church for Lottie Ford McLendon, 82, of Brooklyn, who died June 7, 1989 at Methodist Hospital. The Rev. Gilbert Allan will officiate. Interment will be in Brooklyn Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. McLendon was a member of Brooklyn First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, James Ford. Survivors include her husband, Alvis McLendon of Brooklyn; one son, Lavester Ford of Wiggins; one daughter, Mernice Hopkins of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 tonight at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church an hour prior to services. 1960 for Covington County superintendent, Flynt moved to Forrest County, where he served as principal at South Forrest Attendance Center from 1960 to 1965. Following that, he was principal at Central Forrest Attendance Center until 1968. After a brief period at Run-nelstown School, Flynt returned to Forrest County, where he was elected superintendent of education in 1972. He won re-election in 1976, but health problems cut short his term and he resigned six months later.

"Mr. Flynt was an outstanding superintendent for Forrest County and really laid the groundwork for what Forrest County schools are today," said Superintendent Walt Carrier. "Mr. Flynt was probably one of the most dedicated school persons that I have ever known." Marcus Berry PRENTISS Marcus Berry of Raymond died June 7, 1989 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Andrew Dunnam Jr. LEAKESVILLE Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Mutual Rites Methodist Church for Andrew A. Dunnam 75, of Leakesville, who died June 7, 1989 at his residence. The Rev.

Herbert Sullivan, the Rev. Ervis Dale Everett and the Rev. Johnny Breazeale will officiate. Interment will be in Mutual Rites Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Otis L.

Dunnam of Leakesville; three daughters, Ella Vee Odom of Richton, Peggy Upshaw of Hattiesburg and Sally Anderson of Purvis; one brother, Bilbo Dunnam of Mobile; two sisters, Leona Smith of Pass Christian and Eliza Walley of Leakesville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Crumbley James Scott Crumbley, 64, of Sacramento, formerly of Hattiesburg, died June 6, 1989 at his residence.

Century Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. By KELLY CARSON AMERICAN Staff Writer The death of Ellis S. Flynt of Covington County on Monday closed a chapter in South Mississippi educational history. Flynt, 75, died at Forrest General Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m.

today at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. He will be buried in Highland Cemetery. A 1929 graduate of Smith High School in Covington County, Flynt attended Mississippi Southern College in Hattiesburg (now the University of Southern Mississippi), where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees. He worked toward a doctorate at Louisiana State Univeristy before returning to South Misissippi, where he taught at the old Eatonville School, now North Forrest Attendance Center. When World War II broke out, Flynt enlisted in the U.S.

Air Force. In 1947, he was elected superintendent of education in Covington County, a post he held until 1960. During his administration, Flynt consolidated small schools in Smith, Salem, Lone Star, Williamsburg and Sanford. He also oversaw construction of Collins High School. "He was a wonderful superintendent," said former educator Evelyn McLaurin.

"He led Covington County schools into a great period of growth. He will be greatly missed." Hall will officiate. Mrs. Bass was a member of Bassfield Baptist Church and a homemaker. Survivors include one brother, Alton Bass of Bassfield; and one sister, Ruth Howard of West Point. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
