BLOOD, Daniel December 8, 1958 -September 23, 2016 Dan Blood of Anaheim, passed away at his home by his own hand. Dan was born in Los Angeles to Sally and David Blood. He lived in Gardena and Palos Verdes, where he attended Rolling Hills High School. After attending Harbor College, he worked for David's company, Tarn's Stationers and then moved on to Total Copy Systems where he was a field technician for xerographic equipment.

He went on to own his own business, and more recently worked for King Instruments as a purchasing agent. Dan's life changed forever, when on February 22, 1998 he welcomed his son Andrew into the world. Dan was a devoted and loving father and Andrew was the light of his life. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. An avid handyman, Dan completed many complex home improvement projects for both himself and his family.

In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his brothers, Larry of Torrance, CA; Paul of Dallas, TX, and his wife, Cynthia and their daughter and Dan's niece, Sofia; cousins John and Jennifer Van Rossem; and Steve Clark (Carol.) Dan will be remembered for his courage during difficult times. His soul is now free from the dark clouds of depression he experienced late in life, and rests in God's hands. A celebration of his life will be announced in the near future. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lea; daughters, Deborah Bleviss (Bill Lienesch), liana Massi (Bob Massi), Sharon Bleviss (Kirk Whitlatch), and Mara Bleviss (Michael Edwards); grandchildren Rob, Eric (Michelle), Nick, Josh (Andie) and Evan (Kate) Massi; Bryan and Rachel Lienesch; Anna, Adam, Aaron, Andrew and Alex Whitlatch; Nathan, Hannah and Jacob Edwards; great-grandson Jameson Massi; sister Lillian Katzen; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Anna Bleviss, and brother David Bleviss. Zig was born in Calgary, Canada. He grew up in Boyle Heights and was active in Habonim. Zig attended UCLA and UC Berkeley, and ultimately earned a PhD in Aeronautics and Mathematics from Caltech. He served in the Navy at Moffett Field, NACA (forerunnerto NASA).

Zig married Lea in Sao Paulo, Brazil, sharing the same home for 64 years, and traveling the world together. Zig had a long career in aeronautical engineering, including over 20 years at Hughes Aircraft, where he was Sr. Scientist for Surveyor, the first unmanned craft to land on the moon. Zig loved educating, and taught courses at USC, UCLA, and Cal Tech. He was a docent at Museum of Science Industry for many years after retiring.

Zig enjoyed tinkering in his garage, traveling with family, photography, surfing the web, and telling the perfect joke. Many of his friends and relatives were treated to his poetry, full of puns, and endless emails. Most of all, Zig cherished his family and life-long friends. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016, 9am at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Los Angeles. FRANKLIN, Charles Arthur April 26, 1925 -September2S, 2016 Charles Arthur Franklin (Chuck) passed away September 25th at the age of 91 Beloved husband of Patricia Haney Franklin (d.2012), and adored father of Fred (d.2000) and his wife Mary, Chuck (Laurie), Bob (Justine), Terry (Reidulf), and Mary Pat (Denny). He was the darling Grandpa of Jen (Alfred), Carrie (Chris), Geoffrey, Brian (d.2008), Andisheh, Conorand Cortney. He is also survived by his cherished God-daughter Mimi Wood (David), and the 'kids' who claim him as their own Grandpa: Brian, Katie, Meghan, Michelle and Suzanne. Chuck and his wife Pat were in the first kindergarten class at Cathedral Chapel, and Chuck went on to Loyola High, and then Texas A fine pilot in WWII, after the war he began as a camera man in television and spent over 35 years as a respected technical director at CBS. He and Pat reveled in their retirement and spent many happy years travelling the world with theirfriends and family.

His legacy of kindness, certitude and faith will forever be treasured by his grateful children. Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2nd of October at at Cathedral Chapel Church, 927 So. La Brea (La Brea and Olympic) and the interment is Monday the 3rd at at Holy Cross Cemetery. Perez, 49, passed away at her home in Industry, CA on Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was born November 18, 1966 to her parents Miguel Thomas Mejia and Betty Lee Burnett in Los Angeles, CA.

She graduated class of 1984 from Arroyo High School in El Monte, and went on to earn a degree in Administrative Work. She began working at Industry Hills Expo Center in 1991, where she would become manager and operator. There she met her husband David and they were married on Valentine's Day of 1998. Raising two boys, Manuel and Michael she became very involved in all of their activities and schooling. Carol loved music and dancing, and being a former band kid herself, devoted much time and many weekends to the Bishop Amat Band program while son Manuel was a member.

Among her many talents, Carol was a wonderful homemaker and entertainer with a striking sense of style. She loved to cook and have family and friends over. She pulled out all the stops for holidays and birthdays making everyone of them unique and fun. Her captivating smile and interesting conversations made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She took great joy in making all of herfamilyfeel special and made her friends likefamily.

Putting her business acumen, fierce sense of competition, and love of people together, Carol was instrumental in bringing a new level of speedway racing to So Cal. Wednesday Summer nights were race nights, and Carol made sure the "Industry Racing" brand meant family fun where she was always on hand with her smile. She is survived by her husband David, sons Manuel and Michael, sister Sally (Sean), brothers Michael and Ryuchi, mother Betty and father Miguel, 6 nieces, 4 nephews and the rest of us poor souls that will never be the same without her. He is survived by his family: son Derrick Isono, daughter Rochelle Gutierrez, daughter Melissa White, grandchildren Geoffrey Olson, Zachary Olson, Isabelle White and Ava White. He is also survived by a sister, a brother, three nieces, one nephew and many relatives in Japan. Born in Inglewood, California to Sae and Taichi Isono, Walter was interned at both Poston, Arizona and Tule Lake, California Japanese Internment Camps with his parents and siblings during World War II. He later served in the U.S. Army, where he developed his love of baseball while stationed in Germany.

Walter enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles, collecting old cars and vintage antiques, cooking and baking, and spending time with his grandchildren. A private "Scattering at Sea" was held on September 2, 2016. i at No. 2 on the charts. The song was covered by Mary J.

Blige and Jamie Foxxin2005. Saleem was born Michael Jones in New York on Dec. 26, 1956, and raised in foster homes. He changed his name to Kashif Saleem after studying Islam. As a teenager, he joined the funk-disco group B.T.

Express. Pam and Mike Stitt, a couple Saleem unofficially adopted as his brother and sister more than 20 years ago, said they were saddened by his death. "We are saddened by the passing of our brother. We ask for your thoughts and prayers to be with us at this time," they said in a statement. Saleem also had Top 10 hits with the songs "I Just Gotta Have You (Lover Turn Me On) "Personality" and "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart." Saleem wrote the book "Everything You'd Better Know About the Record Business," published in 1996.

His rep said that before he died, he had conducted more than 200 interviews for a 10-part documentary called "The History of Music and Its Influence on World Culture." 28. Roger was born in Hollywood during the aftershocks of the Long Beach Earthquake to Roger Carl Peterson and Julia Charlotte (Evans) Peterson. He found his lifelong profession early, working in construction for contractor John Brown, a beloved friend to the entire Peterson family. Roger, known as "Bruce" for the first half of his life, enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He then married and had four children: Nina, Dawn, Lori, and John.

After working in the studios and for other contractors, Roger founded his own commercial contracting business in Glendale, R.B. Peterson, installing a state-of-the-art broadcast studio at Santa Anita Park and extensively renovating Good Samaritan Hospital. Roger retired to St. Simons Island, GA, and eventually moved to Michigan near his daughters. Known for his good cheer and hearty laugh, Roger traveled the world, cherishing every experience.

He leaves behind his children, eight grandchildren, his cousin Richard (Betty) Peters, his beloved Laura, and manydearfriends. A memorial Mass will be said October 8 at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Troy. He will be privately interred the following week at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Ml. Desmond Sons, 248-362-2500. www.desmondfuneralhome.com obituary Frank Edward Raab August 4, 1921 September 19, 2016 Frank Edward Raab, Rear Admiral USNR, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 19, 2016 at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles. Frank was born on August 4, 1921 in Riverside, California where his grandfather, Edward Raab (born in Weisbaden, Germany January 27, 1851 to Fred Raab and Laura) had been the town blacksmith. Frank's father, Frank Edward Raab, Sr.

was born in Houtzdale, Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA on 5 May 1880 to Edward Raab and Louisa Schlatter. In his youth Frank was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and in later years spoke of his experiences with his troop as one of the highlights of his life. In particular he fondly remembered travelling by train across the country to attend a National Scout Jamboree. Frank served in the United States Naval Construction Forces also known as the "Seabees," during World War II where he was deployed in the Pacific Theatre building naval installations, bases, roadways and airstrips. As the war ended, he recalled tearfully, and joyfully, listening to "I'll be Home for Christmas" at a celebratory ball the day before returning to the United States.

Frank remained in the Navy Reserve (and later saw action in Korea) and completed his education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a bachelor's of science degree in business administration in 1946. He remained a lifelong fan of all things Cal, especially the Golden Bears football team. Upon his graduation from UC Berkeley, Frank joined the Insurance Company of North America (INA), one of the largest American insurance companies of the 19th and 20th centuries before it transformed into CIGNA in 1982. Frank was posted to the Pacific Northwest Region where he met his loving wife, Sally, a graduate of Oregon State. Frank used to joke that he had responsibility for the largest territory in the country but the fewest people.

Over a 30 year career with INA Frank ultimately rose to the role of President and CEO. Frank also served as President and CEO of the Pacific Employers Insurance Company; Chairman of the Union Insurance Company; and Chairman of Data Corporation from 1966-1969. In 1976 Frank was hired by Allianz AG of Munich, Germany to establish the Allianz Insurance Company of North America where he served as Chairman and CEO from 1976-1983. Frank also served as Chairman of Allianz Underwriters, Inc. from 1978-1983.

Throughout Frank's distinguished career in the insurance industry, he also held the following positions and titles: Vice Chairman, American Nuclear Insurers; member of the Board of Trustees, American Institute of Property and Liability Underwriters; member of the Board of Trustees, Insurance Institute of America; member of the Board of Governors, New York Insurance Exchange; National President, Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters; Chairman of the Loman Foundation; President, Los Angeles Safety Council; President, Philadelphia Safety Council; member of the Board, American Hull Insurance Syndicate (New York); member of the Board, Improved Risk Mutuals. Frank remained active in the U.S. Navy throughout his life, serving as National President of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets and National Vice President, U.S. Navy League.

In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Veterans Park Conservancy where he was instrumental in the restoration and reopening of the Women Veterans Rose Garden. Frank is a holder of the United States Armed Forces Legion of Merit, given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements. Frank was a great patron of the arts and served on the Board of Directors of the American Jazz Philharmonic, The Henry Mancini Institute and was a Gold Circle Founder of The Music Center of Los Angeles County. Frank also served on the Advisory Board, of Boys Town of Los Angeles. Frank particularly enjoyed performances at the Hollywood Bowl, where he was a long time season ticket holder.

Frank was an avid traveler and his professional and military career took him across the globe to every continent and numerous countries. He fondly recalled many of his voyages and the people he had met and the places he had visited. In particular he often spoke of Christmases in London, UK and New Years in Paris, France. Bavaria, Germany and the Islands of Hawaii were also favored destinations. In his later years Frank was an enthusiastic golfer and enjoyed afternoon rounds at the Los Angeles Country Club where he was renowned for his "worm burner" fairway shots and valued for his sportsmanship and good humor.

Frank was beloved by all those who knew him and will be dearly missed by his many good friends. Her sister, Lorenne Clark of Vancouver, died in July. Gail graduated from UBC and joined her first husband, David Wales, completing his doctorate at Harvard. She loved teaching six year-olds at Belmont Day School. They moved to Pasadena when David joined Caltech.

They subsequently divorced. They have two children, Jonathan Wales, of Huntington Beach, and Jennifer Singleton, Chapel Hill, NC (Scott), and grandsons Matthew and Joshua. Gail earned a JD from USC and worked for the City Attorney of LA. She practiced law with Pillsbury, and Hughes Hubbard and Reed. Gail held office in the Real Property Section of the CA Bar the Pacific Rim Council for Urban Development, the Los Angeles-Vancouver Sister Cities Lambda Alpha, and she actively supported the International Visitors Council of LA.

In 2001 Gail and Sam Losh married, adding children Liz and Stephen Losh, as well as Sam's stepchildren, Janie Shary and Bob Morris. Gail and Sam skied, visited 106 countries, and loved opera. Planned Parenthood has denied any wrongdoing in connection with its fetal tissue practices and says the videos were deceptively edited. It accuses the center of engaging in criminal misconduct in the process of producing the videos. A spokeswoman for the center did not immediately have a comment.

VALLEJO Officer dies in motorcycle crash with pickup, rig A San Pablo police officer hasdiedafterhis motorcycle collided with a pickup and a big rig on Interstate 80. Officer Ken Zink, 53, of Dixon, died Thursday morning while driving his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle through Vallejo. The California Highway Patrol said Zink collided with the Nissan pickup, was ejected from the bike and then was hit by the rig. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Di Cerulean Stylo, 30, pleaded guilty to making a criminal threat to kill her mother and to threatening to place a harmful substance in food or drink. According to court documents, Stylo told one of her relatives that she was planning to use seeds from the Cerbera odollam, commonly known as the "suicide tree," to kill her mother.

Stylo had purchased the deadly seeds from a website. The relative called the Monterey Police Department to report the plot. Stylo's sentencing to felony probation is set for Nov. 17.
