MARCH 27. 147 Placed In Jobs By local Board Employment Service Lands Nearly 5,000 Jobs In The State The Casa Grande office of the Arizona Division of the United States Employment Service placed 147 job seekers during the month of February. 1942. according to in- ormation released today by Dan J.

Sullivan. Manager. Jobs filled throughout the State of Arizona during the month of February through the facilities of the United States Employment Service totaled 4938, Henry K. Arneson, Director, stated. In addition to the above listed Placements, a total of 578 men were placed through clearance arrangements on jobs in war industries, both within the state and on the Pacific Coast.

During the month qf February 4-UWU144 cwrujirj a. total of 4317 new applications were received in the various local offices, while 1,834 men and women renewed applications already on file, but previously considered inactive. In addition to all of these activities, there were many special recruiting campaigns for workers at Ft Huachuca, Flagstaff, Florence, Morenci, San Diego, California, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Mare Island, and for the various Federal civilian branches of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
