4 THE MORNING CALL, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21. 1995 B5 LOCAL Easton man cleared for a new kidney Doctors have cleared Sandy Stra of Easton for a kidney transplant, his wife Cathi said yesterday. Stra, 40, who had both blood-cleansing organs removed at Lehigh Valley Hospital in June, will receive a healthy kidney from his sister, Patti Stra of Bethlehem, at the Salisbury Township hospital Nov. 29. The operation was postponed at least twice after physicians discovered that Stra's heart had become enlargedBut specialists at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia this week said the damage to the muscle came from Stra's renal failure and hypertension, not a virus that could have threatened the success of his transplant.

"We had hoped it could have been sooner, but we're happy the operation can be done," Cathi Stra said. She and her husband have two daughters, Brandi Lee, 8, and Shannon, 6.
