Wascally Wabbit Meet Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe Le Pew and other cartoon favorites when "Crazy Critters: The Animated Animals of Chuck Jones" opens Saturday in the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. The exhibit is presented as a whacky way to discover little-known facts about animals and the natural world. You'll find out what roadrunners really sound like, whether coyotes do eat them and if skunks really live in Paris. The exhibit includes more than 150 pieces of art by Jones, including his best cartoons.

You also can hear him talk on "Jones Phones" throughout the exhibit. Jones, now in his eighties, has been doing cartoons for more than 60 years. By RANDY KRAFT Travel Writer "Escape from Pompeii," a new water ride with fiery special effects and a five-story drop, is being called the "most ambitious addition" in the 20-year history of Busch Gardens Williamsburg near Williamsburg, Va. The theme of the attraction is that riders exploring ruins of the Italian city of Pompeii by boat must flee an eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Beams crack, statues fall and flames shoot out of the ruins. "It's our largest and most complex capital improvement project," said spokeswoman Deborah De-Marco. "The building is more than 19,000 square feet.

And the com- TTT Travel notebook puterized fire effects are extremely complex." How wet you get at the bottom of the hill depends on where you're sitting in the 20-passenger boat, said DeMarco. "But it's not like you're going to need your bathing suit." She added people do stand on a section of a "splash bridge" to intentionally get drenched. Length of the ride is four minutes. DeMarco said waits to get on "Escape From Pompeii" are 15 to 20 minutes in mornings, up to 45 minutes on busy days. The theme park, known as The Old Country until a few years ago, focuses on 17th-century Europe.

At nearby Water Country USA, Busch Gardens Williamsburg's sister the new Big Daddy Falls is called the largest expansion in that water park's 11-year history. Four passengers ride rafts dov a a 670-foot serpentine flume, with waterfalls, drops and "water explosions." The ride also has a 60-foot stretch of darkness. Water Country USA has more than 30 water attractions, with a '5fls and '60s surf theme. It is called Virginia's largest water park. Steamtown National Historic Site Hours are 4 p.m.
