Her work was decidedly original and refreshing and her success is already assured.

For a first-night "The Fatal Flower" was given an excellent production. There were but; few hitches, for the most part unnoticeable. There were places in the piece where a little prun-ine and revision would bring an im-, provement. This doubtless will be done forthwith. FOR OVER SIXTY YEARS.

"THE FATAL FLOWER" Initial Performance of New Play at Lyceum Last Evening Plot Presents Psychological Problems. The name was misleading and that is why more people did not witness the initial production of "The Fatal Flower" at the Lyceum last evening.

The title gives the impression of the melodramatic, but the play presents a plot deep and sincere, realing with a psychological problem that has for years agitated one of the greatest scientific and religious arguments the power of mind over matter. The pseudo-discovery by an insane toxicologist of a fatal flower, the oroma of which he asserts, brings certain death with the rising of the sun, furnishes the problematic material. The hero inadverently Inhales the perfume of the flower, is told that his doom Is sealed and the power of suggestion does the rest. The symptoms follow In the order described to him by the toxicologist and he is all but dead when a "suggestive therapeutist" takes a hand, tells him It is all bosh and he recovers at once. That's the excuse for naming the piece "The Fatal Flower." But that isn't all the plot.

There is a story of love, Intrique, deception, villainy running through the four acts sufficient to develop Intense interest. The story is by Howard Hall of the DISTINC SURPRISE Fred'k C.
