Charges and betterments durinr the period mentioned gregateo mozunx making a denctt during the peril arerecateo fajZLira mal of 9462235 In the ten months This is If the Episcopal church doe not act and order a rehearing of the trial of BIthop Moreland on the charges which I brought against him and which resulted in a whitewash whenthe Inquiry board took it up I shall start proceedings In the 8tate courts against Bishop Moreland raia titr uum uouara of Vallejo yesterday have by no means reached the end of this thing and I shall fight to the last ditch in seeing that justice is done me I shall force Bishop Moreland If not by one means by another to oust tats mission out of Vallejo and if necessary will resort to an Injunction to restrain him from carrying on the mission Revv Bollard waa a much wrought up man as he told of the state of affairs in Vallejo Episcopalian circles He showed the many Improvements which he had brought about in his church described his rtrughies to make it a good thorough and successful parish in its work and how he had worked In the fold there for twenty years without a salary When he came io the point of the rival mission which was started about two blocks from the church under the instructions and with the full approbation of Bishop More land he showed how deeply the whole matter baa affected him I tried to start a mission on tne outskirts of the town he said but It would not go because it had not the following to keepit up The out skirts are the only proper places for the startlng et a mission here There Is not room for another mission or church In the city We still have plenty of room here for more worshippers I had a talk with Admiral Rogers when he returned to 8an Francisco recently and he said as all do that know the conditions that Vallejo is not large enough for two churches of our denomination Any man knows that The secretary and treasurer of this new mlsslonUve Just across the street from me the mission Is but two blocks away But I shall fight and I shall see that the mission goes I do not Intend to give all my hand away so to speak and tell what I Intend to do in the matter but the matter will go before the civil courts surely if the presiding bishop at Providence does not decide that there shall be a rehearing DEKOUXCEI IXQCIRY Bishop Morelands talking with one of the members of the inquiry board of which I have proof through a photo graph was practically tampering with a Juryman It would be soconsTdered under tha civil law The Inquiry was a whitewash Isaldat the time of the inquiry that If it did not terminate the way wanted it to I would be heard from again and heard from strongly and meant It do not see how the church however can refuse to grant a rehearing after the reasons have advanced The Inquiry board tried to give out th impression to th public believe that th first hearing really was a trlsU whereas it was only an inquisition into th chargerto ae whether there should be a trial The reason for this was that they wanted th matter apparently settled one and for all It will be found out however that I have soma friends and that I have backing lam only in reality acting for the trustees of our church This is not my personal fight so far as the church is concerned It is the contention alto of the trustees that the mission should not be allowed to exist In Vallejo and we Intend tosee that it is not allowed to exist MAT BE JTO REHBARIXO The congregation of the Vallejo church is worked up over the present status of the church and Is waiting anxiously for the decision of the heads of the church on a rehearing Gossip in Episcopalian circles In San Francisco has it however that there will be no rehearing of the charges before an inquiry board and that this part of the matter has been practically decided Bishop Morelands friends were responsible for the decision reached by the Inquiry board well informed churchmen say and It Is unlikely that there will be a hashing over of the charges It Bishop Moreland was honorable to the extent that I wish I could consider him he would welcome a trial to be cleared of the charges which I brought declaredr Rer Bollard I should
