AtXhOTies however did not lessen the pain of btrauss nose and he would not accept them but insisted on Officer Kaskell placing Kunze under arrest On the way to the police station Kunze stated that a for Breach of Contract Suit for 1000 damages has been brought by Ned Foster against James de la Montanya Jr etaL The plaintiff who Is proprietor of the Bella Union Theater complains that the defendants induced hint to cease purchasing from ths Union Ice Company and to transfer his patronage to the Los Gatos Ice Company He had paid hal a cent a pound or 12 50 a month for his ice and the defendants agreed to furnish the commodity at that rate and fur ther agreed that they would not sell out to the Union Ice Company It is farther complained that thereafter the Los Gatos Ice Conpany in violation ol such agreement did sell out and become a part of the Union Ice Coa pany and that since then plaintiff has been compelled to pay one cent per pound or 25 a month for the ice required by him in his business all as he alleges to his damage in 1000 TBE LABOR FIELD The Results of the Chemical Analysis Made by Dr Anderson From th moment the suicide of Mrs Sarah Xowman of 1322 Buchanan street was reported to the Coroner every effort has been made to keep the facts ot the case out of the newspapers ween tne case was nrst reported to the Morgue the name ot Samuels wu given instead ot Lowraan and the name was thai written neon the Morgue records The family and fnends of the dead woman were averse to talking about the affair and the Coroner experienced great difficulty getting at the facts in the case Mrs Low man was found dead in bed if the husbands story is to be be tiered Beneath the bed was a glass containing medicine and morpnine Mr Lowman stated that he Ipd slept by the tide of his wife and was unconscious of her condition until morning when he found her dead The Coroners jury viewed the body on Friday and then adjourned to await the result of the analysis of the dead womans stomach Dr Anderson after twenty hours work has com pleted his chemical analysis of the stomach liis report made to the Coroner fast evening shows that there was enough strychnine found in the stomach to kill half dozen persons The glass found under the bed contained morphine but no traces of strychnine It was claimed by Mrs Lowmani friends that she had been taking morphine as a medicine acd had taken an overdose thereby causing her death The result of the chemical analysis shows that there was no trace of morphine in the stom acn which controverts very readily the statements of Mrs Lowmtns fnends Physicians and those who have made the subject of poisons a stndy state positively as a medical I act mat all persons poisoned by strychnine are taken with the most noent convulsions with great pain and agony This is especially true where the person takes the ooison on an enmtv stom ach as in the case of Mrs Lowman If tne nusoand as ne claims slept by his wifes side during the night it would bave been impossible for him nor to hare been awakened by his wife illness and tne convulsions following the taking of the poison It being rumored last night that Coroner Taylor had discovered new evidencein the case he was called on by a CbbosicU reporter and expressed himsel as follows This Lowman cose has puzzled me a great deal and I have had the gravest suspicions concerning the husband connection with the mysterious death but now ail doubts are removed and 1 am free to say that believe the woman commit ted suicide and that the hnsbands strange conduct hit been caused by a mixture of stupidity and fear 1 have so far withheld some information which may now be given to the press It is this bhortly after the case was reported to me I was told by Dr Regeusburger that he was called on by Lowman between 6 and 30 oclock of the morning the woman was found to be dead The husband was greatly agitated and begged the pnvsiaan to can at once ar tne law man residence My wife is dead or dying said he the told me lost nigntat loociocKtnatsnenai taken strychnine enough to kill herself but as she had often made idle threats of committing suicide 1 paid no attention to the remark but went to bed The doctor hurried to the womans beiside and of course found her dead toe position ot her muscles indicating strychnine poisoning I did not confront Lowman with this information until to day when growing weary of his deceit 1 sprung it on him He was surprised but said he could not remember whether he had told Rcgensbnrger anything or not This evening however he called on me and acknowledged the truth ot the physicians narrative When asked to ex i Iain his peculiar conduct in not having called a doctor early in the night ho said that he did not at first credit his wifes statement He admitted having seen her in a convulsion early in the night but did not re alize her condition He was HI himself and was frequently absent from the bedroom He supposed she must hare died while he was oucof the room ow I think myself that wben he noticed her deathlike appearance he became frightened and stupidly tried to bring the woman back to consciousness without outside assistance hen he saw the impossibility of this he called in Dr Regensburger and since then he has stupidly fancied his best policy to consist in a concealment of the facts MISCKIXAJTEOCS 1
