Taylor ranch where the unfor tunate woman was found in bed with her injuries bandaged She made the folio ingatatement The trouble between my husband and myself was caused by my telling him to go to bed As has been stated he was away from home all day Sunday and Sunday night When he came home on Monday morning I told him to either go to bed or get out of the house This made him angry and he struck me with his clenched fist When be hit me I reached behind the door and got a pick ax handle and hit him in re turn This he tookfromme and struck me with it over the head When I screamed my son George cameinfo the kitchen and as he was crossing the thresh old his father attempted to strike me again but hit my son instead My husband has been drinking considerable of late and I was Just tired and proposed tbatne should either stop it or leave me This is what 1 told him Mon dav and what caused all the trouble Dr Gaillard who was summoned to attend Mrs Taylor visited the injured woman during the reporters visit And spoke as follows of her injuries When I first saw Mrs Taylor there waa every Indication or both fracture of the skull and concussion of the brain In fact there were slight indications that she was fatally injured but owing to her unconscious condition it was impossible for me to dearly diagnose the exact extent of herimnrv Alter laborins zealouslv and applying restoratives for nearly two hours signs 01 returning consciousness were apparent When her reason was restored and she was able to talk I found that her pronounced unconsciousness was due to the effects of shock and not from a fracture of the skuU although concussion of the brain exists I found however that the excessive presence of blood was due to a large blood vessel that had been rup I turea oy a mow irom some brunt instrument In reply to a question as to whether or not Mrs Taylors injuries were fatal Da Gaillard said they were not necess rilv so unless some unforeseen event occurred Little George who also fell a victim to tbe brutality of his lather has had his wound sewed up It is anuglvone on the fop of the head several inches long Avon Taylor the perpetrator of the deed returned to his home yesterday morning and when he saw what his drunkenness had caused him to do broke down and wept like a child All day long he wandered about the bouse in a dazed manner and it
