FROM COMMUNITY CORRESPONDENTS FALLING SPRINGS By Mark Twain, Jr. Wheat and oats were harvested last week by all farmers who are fortunate enough to have grain fields. Henry Wilmoth has been in bed sick for several days with a form of heart trouble, Norma Jeanne Gammon is ill from appendicitis. Due to rainy weather only a few club members met for the H. D.

meeting last week so there was no meeting. As usual Falling Springs was well represented at the Siloam Springs celebration. Dewey'Box accompanied C. C. Edmiston fishing in Spavinaw Tuesday.

Mrs. Ida Clem has gone Mich. to visit her daughter, Mrs. Hyma Copper. Mr.

and Mrs. Ed Embry and R. Davis all of Wichita, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis the first of this week.

Mrs. Elmo Ownbey has received word that Mr. Ownbey and the group who. left here some time ago are in picking cherries. Mrs.

Glen Wilmoth' and children of Coon Hollow spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. L. CHEROKEE CITY Mrs.

Martha Kiser, who has been in the school for the blind at Little Rock, has come home to spend the holidays with his family. Junior Taylor made another trip to Fort Smith for examination last week and expects a call to enter training for the Navy sometime around the first of July. Roy Branum, who went to Enid, tc work, has returned home. Mike Grim of Muskogce, has come for an indefinite visit with his uncle. H.

Grace Gahagan who lias been with her son, Ward, up near Bella Vista, has returned to the Bader home here. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Waldrip and Luther spent Sunday at Healing Mrs. Robert Yates was called to Silsbee, Texas, a few days ago by the serious illness of her daughter-in- law, Mrs.

Orvil Yates, who suffered a. severe heart attack. She is reported somewhat improved. We regret the terrible accident of a few days ago, which took the life of our new neighbor, Mr. Hendricks.

The family has the sympathy of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rogers and' Mr. and Mrs.

Taylor were all-day visitors Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Estelle Carney. Mrs. Joe Sullivan, Mrs.

Tom Kitchen and Miss Ada Bentz were callers in the" Jeff Wright home Friday afternoon. Uncle Will Shaw celebrated his 84th birthday Sunday, June 23, with all his children present. Clintoir Shaw of Shawnec, Clarence Shaw, Bentonville, Mrs. Cora Sniffer, Long Beach, Mrs. Carrie Shields, Placentia, CaliL, and Poindexter of Sulphur Springs, were all here for the occasion.

At the. noon hour, neighbors gathered in with well- filled baskets and a wonderful cooperative dinner was served to 38 persons. The afternoon was spent in visiting and on leaving all reported a pleasant day and wished Uncle Will many more happy birthdays. Mrs. Lula Lawrence and children, Gene, Daryle and Beverly Jenell, arrived Sunday from Santa Ana, for a visit with her parents, Mr.

and Ben Medley. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. G. N.

Lawrence and Miss Lola and Mr. and Mrs. Brant Norris and children. Miss Mary Clift returned home Saturday from Siloam Springs where she spent several sister, Miss Mildred Clift. Mrs.

Bill Hitch and daughter, Mary, of near Gentry, and Mrs. Albert Smith spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. Jeff Wright. French Porter's sister, who was operated on last Thursday in a Musko- gce, hospital, is reported as "doing nicely." On last Wednesday night, June 17, the Club Circle surprised Mrs. Earl Work with a cake, supper, the occasion being Mrs.

Whilcsldo Joe Moudy who has been sick for some time grew suddenly worse and was rushed to a Siloam Springs hospital Friday afternoon where he underwent an emergency operation. His condition has been very serious but. appendicitis, tho, latest reports are that he is getting along as well as conditions will permit and we surely wish him a speedy recovery. Friends who JOG Monday night say his condition is still very serious. His parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moudy, also visited him Monday night. Mrs. Maxwell Lofors of Gentry visited last Friday in the Chas.

Ottinger home where she helped Mrs. Wiley White with the dinner for harvpst hands. As it was also little Carl Wiley's birthday, Frankie Hawks 'baked his birthday cake which held ono candle. We wish the jolly fellow many more happy birthdays. Mr.

Ellington and other relatives. Mrs." Oliver Green, mother of Mrs. Jim Hazel, is confined to her bed with illness. She has been sick for some time but is. worse at this writing.

Mrs. Will Dodgen and Mrs. W. H. Hylton visited her Monday afternoon.

Earl Burgess, Roy Cash and Eric Poetszch enjoyed a fishing trip on the river Friday night and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nunn of Ok. visited Friday and Saturday in the home of Mrs.

E. A. Wiles and the W. P. Wiles home.

Mr. Nunn is a nephew of Mrs. E. A. Wiles.

The Wiles, also enjoyed Byron Wiles of J. B. IT. visiting over the week end. W.

N. Pittman who has employment in Little Rock is visiting his family at FayetteviHe and called at the Vol Wasson home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Grider of Strang, visited with Mr.

and Mrs. Maxwell Lefors of Gentry went to Disney, Ok. Mrs. Roy Daniels was called to Hindsville Friday to the bedside of her grandfather who later passed away. Mrs.

Stephenson's daughter, Miss Fern Bodine, to John Henry Vail of Oklahoma City, on April 20 at Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Vail was a popular graduate of Dccatur high school in 1934 and then took nurses training at Kansas City, graduating in 1938. The newlyweds are making their home in Kansas City at present. J. Schieber of Kansas City were recent visitors, of Mrs. G. A. Bolch and Harley.

Mrs. Schieber was, formerly Miss Maxine Bolch. Geo. Cooper of Gravette a few days checking out-of-commission radios around Decatur the past week. Saturday visitors in the Johnson home were Mrs.

Marietta Wyman and Blanche Rogers of Gentry, Miss Henryetta Davis and her guests, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Whitney and children. Mrs. J.

O. Johnson spent Monday at Gentry in the Jay Londigan home supervising the canning of a hog. Mrs. Johnson is Canning Leader for her club and it is one of her many duties toward her club to do this work. Mrs.

Doris and daughter, Miss Irene of Kansas City, have be'en guests in the Lawrence home the past Week. Mrs. A. Fitzgerald, who has. been in poor health the past month, is some improved and able to be up a little.

A picnic dinner was held at the W. A. Lay. home recently. Mr.

and Mrs. Porter: Weaver and John Correction! Last week's issue stated Decatur as haying subscribed $45.45 to the Red Cross emergency fund. The report for Decatur township should' have, rood $145.45. Masters filled his regular appointment at Shady Grove church Saturday night and Sunday. There were 41 at Sunday school Sunday and Bro. Masters a very interesting talk. Some new improvements' on the building are Mrs. Claud Hutton and baby daughter were brought home from the hospital Saturday.
