Bert was in the chair on account of the illness of President Moran and those present at the meeting were Bonnet and Henry Harris of this city Cal Ewing of Oakland George Harper of Stockton and Morley of Los Angeles George Harper tried hard to have Stockton retained in the league but when it was decided to make it a four club organization his chances all disappeared Had Stockton given Its team the proper support last year the league would have been made one of six clubs with either Watsonvllle or Santa Cruz to fill out the required number Harper waa asked what guarantee Stockton could give He stated that he had been assured by several prominent business men that they would establish new grounds and give the club the proper backing but as he was not prepared to give a definite guarantee It was decided to drop Stockton out of the league tr Money of Los Angeles stated that th rornnrntlnn hohln1 th Angeles club would agree to give any reasonable guarantee that the directors mlghttname It was decided that each club in the league would put up 2000 cash as a guarantee to live up to all the league obligations and to assure that the club from each city would be kept tn the league until the rules and discussing the schedule Managers Harris and Morley were appointed a committee on schedule but they will not make a final report for some time Manager Cal Ewlng of Oakland has practically signed his team already The men so far selected to wear the Oakland uniform are Lohman Dummy Taylor the noted pitcher of the New Torks Moskiman Babbitt Borch ers Hutchinson Arrelanes Moore of the Stocktons Francks Held and Dren tfan This will give the Oaklands a very strong team and the other man agers will have to stir themselves to get together better ones Graham of the Stocktons Is the only man that Manager Harris has signed or even dickered with so far Harris as well as Ewlng and Beebee of Sacramento has reserved all his players of last year but none of the managers will keep all their old men Harris has not decided what he will do In regard to Sullivan The Los Angees club Is backed by a strong syndicate and It will play on tho new grounds where the winter league in the south is
