THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 1948 HAWARDEN a THE INDEPENDENT HAWARDEN, IOWA Attend Wedding At Sioux Falls Mr. and Mrs. Verne Mallette and two sons, Forrest and Don, attended the wedding of her brother, William Dibbern and Joette Smoke, in Sioux Falls Sunday, The wedding was in Faith Lutheran church. Don Mallette was one of the ushers. A reception was held in the home of the bridegroom's parents for the members of the two fmailies and a few close friends.

The bride wore a gown of white satin, fashioned with bodice, sweetheart neckline, long pointed sleeves and a draped skirt which fell entrain. Her lace edged veil fell from a crown of seed pearls to fingertip length. Her jewelry was a double strand pearl necklace, a gift from the groom. She cutried a cascade bouquet of gladioli florets and delight roses.

Her maid of honor, Miss Phyllis Mac Belfrage, wore a blue brocaded satin gown with matching net She carried a colonial bouquet light roses, white mums and caladium leaves. The groom and his best man, Quinton Miller, wore brown business suits with white carnation boutonnieres. Joe Belle Ofstad, cousin of the bride, dressed in blue net over taffeta. served as flower girl. Ronald Twite, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.

Myron Ofstad and Elmer Buum were ushers. Men! The bride is a graduate of Beresford high school. 1 The groom graduated from Hawarden high school after which he spent three and a half ir the army. The bride chose for her traveling costume a grey wool suit with white accessories.

Upon their return from a wedding trip to northern Minnesota, the young couple wil reside northwest of Hawarden. Rembes Observe 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mra. John Rembe and Sadie Schumacher were married in Hawarden, but for many years they have lived in Sioux City.

Paul's Lutheran parsonage in Ireton, Rev. H. W. Krieger officiating. The bride chose for her wedding gown a green gabardine with brown accessories and her corsage was of gladioli.

Miss Lillian Peters, her bridesmaid, wore a grey dress with green accessories and 1 her corsage was similar to that of the bride's. Leonard Wessels of Ireton was best man. Following the ceremony A reception was held in the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wessels, and at 6 o'clock a wedding dinner was served.

The home was decorated in the bride's chosen colors, green, pink and grey. A beautifully decorated wedding cake WAS the centerpiece of the banquet table. The bride, a graduate of Hawarden high school, has been employed at Elwell's place, The groom served 13 months in the U.S. navy after which he assisted his father in farming operations. The past year he established a trucking business.

Cousin of Mrs. French Is Guest at Party Tuesday Mrs. S. Q. French was hostess at an afternoon party at her home Tuesday afternoon honoring hen cousin, Mrs.

George Hatfield of Pierson. At the close of a social afternoon Mrs. French served a lunch. Sewing Class Will Meet This Afternoon The Sewing class of the Associated church will hold the first meeting of the season in the home of Mrs. W.
