These buildings are not an end in themselves. Their purpose is to provide facilities for the accomplishment of th« church's task, to relate persons to God by faith in Jesus Christ and to encourage them to grow in His likeness. Over 90 percent of those who are converted to faith in Christ have been reached initially through the'church's Christian education program. The five program organizations are: Sunday Shcool, Training Union, Woman's Missionary Union, Baptist Brotherhood and the Music Ministry (graded choirs); There are 1,279 persons presently enrolled in Sunday School First Baptist is seeking to develop more effective ministries to the following: 1. The poor and unfortunate; 2. Military personnel in the area; 2. The elderly and the handicapped; 4. the youth of the church and community; 5- parents of growing children; 6. middle-aged persons carrying heavy responsibilities. The members of First Baptist are gratef ul for the warm ties of friendship and cooperation that exist with the members of Other churches in the community.
