Noti was the only player from the Lehigh Valley area selected on the squad, although George Garrett, of Pottsville High School, was picked for one of the guard positions and John Carber, of Neshaminy, was a tackle selection. Several Lehigh Valley area boys were selected for honorable mention. Writers Select The Big 33 was selected by a panel of sports writers throughout the state under the direction of Al Clark, executive sports editor of the Harrisburg Patriot News.

Clark said that he feels there is a good chance the 1961 team will be allowed to play a national high school team at Hershey next summer. The Big 33 teams of 1957. 1958 and 1959 played national teams, but last summer an East-West because of a new NCAA rule on high school all-star games. This rule prevented such games unless they are sanctioned by the high school federations of the states involved.
