FOLLOWING ILLNESS Paul Schtilz, of Lone Wolf, died Tuesday after a three xconth illness. Mire. Schulz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rehfcen of Ireton, was born there.

She has lived at Lone Wolf for some time. Funeral services will be held at Ixme Wolf. Survivors are her husband; t.vo daughters, Mrs. Ed Trentham and Lavonne Schulz of Hobart, two sons, Harold of Oklahoma City Dale of Craig; four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Eilers of Chester, S.

and Mrs. Fred Dirks, Mrs. Virgil Harris and Mrs. John Osterkamp of Ireton; two brothers, Herman Renken of Huntington Park, and John Huss- inan of Ceiling, and six grandchildren. Mr.

and Mrs. Virgil Harris left yesterday morning to attend the funeral. Couple Observes 38th Anniversary Ireton, and Mrs. H. H.

Eraaka celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary Jast week. They are the parents of two Carl H. nad Louis of Ireton. and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Flippen of San Bernardino, and Mrs.

Herman Degen who recently returned from Germany where she wns with her husband, who is in the army. Mr. Braaks has been a blacksmit'i in leton 51 years and still assists his sons in the work. To Graduate From School of Nursing Miss Constance Dilly of Sioux City will graduate from the school of nursing in the Methodist hospital in Sioux City at commencement exercises Sunday night. Miss Dilly, a daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Lawrence Dilly, formerly lived in Hawarden. Miss Bernice Rehmer of Denver came last Friday to visit with Miss Neva Whittington. IRETON Rev. and Mrs.

H. W. Krieger, Miss Vander Hamtn, Mrs. Emma Vander Hamm, Mr. and Mrs.

Eldo Degen, Mrs. Orville Mueller and daughter, Mrs. Conn and Mrs. Delbert Dittmer attended the W. L.

M. L. convention of the Iowa district west at Lake Okoboji, at the Walther League camp, Tuesday. H. W.

Pereboom of Le Mars visited his sister Mary Mrfnday. Alex Morison of Montrose, S. visited his sisters, Mrs. G. L.

Houlton and Mrs. Fred Scheutte Mrs. Louisa Kluter was taken to the Hawarden hospital where she will be i patient for a few days. Rev. and Mrs.

J. Boyd Stevenson, who have spent a month's vacation in Pennsylvania, Rev. Stevenson's boyhood home, will return home Thursdv or Friday and preaching will be resumed in the Presbyterian church Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs.

Raymond Siders and family returned from a vacation which took them to the Pacific coast. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Kurtz and family returned from Saskatchewan, Canada, where they visited a sister of Mrs. Kurtz.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Ekdom, who have been guests in the home of their sons, John and Neal Ekdom, left Monday for their home at Chino, Calif. Neal accompanied them. Mrs.

Sittler Dies Tuesday at Chicago George Moore Tuesday received word of the death of his sister, Mrs. Albert Sittler, of Chicago. Mrs. Sittler was known by a number of people as she visited here at various times. She visited here the early part of this summer.

Mrs. Sittler was also a sister of Mrs. George Downing, of Akron and an aunt of George Downing and Mrs. Jerry Gilberg of Hawarden anJ Raymond Downing of Akron. Slife Graduates From University Earl Slife, was graduated from the business administration school at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion last Thursday.

Slife and Mrs. Stella Weaver attended the exercises. T. F. Patrick, formerly of Chatsworth and now of Sioux City, arrived this week to visit relatives and friends.

Mrs.

Petry was assisting Mrs. Sappingfield change a tire when the accident occurred. French Arranges Football Display S. Q. French has arranged a unique display window in the Booth Olson drug store depicting football records and pictures of various Hawarden high school football teams.

Mr. French has spent several weeks completing past records of local high school football teams from the files of the Hawarden Independent. Capt Matt Schon Leaves for Orient Capt. Matt Schon was in Hawarden again this week to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

M. Schon, before leaving for the Orient. He left Tuesday for San Francisco where he will visit in the home of a trother, Leo Schon, and from there will g-o to Camp Stoneman to report for duty. His wife and two childen will with her people at Denmark, while he is overseas. Mrs.

Blanche Rpeper Dies in California Miss Blache Roeper, 55, of National City, a former Hawarden re i- dtnt, died early Tuesday morniMg from a heart ailment. The body will be brought to Hawarden for burial. She was Mrs. John mother and she is survived by three other daughters. On motion and vote John Hymans Sons of Hull, Iowa were awarded the maintenance graveling at a low- bid of 25c per cu. yd. This includes screen crush load, coonty to pay haulers at county rates. On motion and vote the board ad- jcurned to March 30, 1948. C.

Anderson Goes To Decatur, Nebr. Lloyd Anderson, who worked at the Great Lakes Pumping station northeast of Hawarden for a has been transferred to Decatur, Neb. This station is located on the pipe line. Mr. Anderson has working- at Decatur for the month.

He plans to sell his residence on Central avenue after which his family and his parents. Mr. and Mrs. E. Anderson will join him in Decatur.

mam been past Theodore Hendricks Taken to Sioux City Theodore Hendricks, who suffered fractures of both wrists, his left ankle and right hip when he fell 40 feet from the top of a silo near Hull, was removed from the Hull hospital to the Methodist hospital in Sioux City last week. A bone specialist found it necessary to reset the bones in his wrists. Sells Shoe Shop Here to Brother E. F. Deutschman recently sold his shoe repair and harness shop to b-ia brother, Elmer Deutschman, of Dundee, Minn.

E. F. Deutschman is not in the best of health. He has been assisting some vith the work sinec he sold the business. The shop will still be known as Ernie's Shoe Shop.

M. was time set to fill vacancy on County Board of Review the meeting of Mayors and Bd. of Ed Supervisors was called to order by the chairman of the Board and chair appointed Henry J. Te Paske, as chairman of this meeting. It was moved and seconded thai Dick Haarsma be selected as a Boan; member and Secretary of the meeting was ordered to cast the deciding bal lot for Haarsma.

No further business meeting ad journed. The report of the County Recorder for the 1st quarter of 1948 shows fee! collected in the amount of $832.00 ac companied by County Treasurer receipt for the fulf amount was received and ordered filed. The report of the clerk of the Dist- ict Court for the 1st quarter of 1948 flowing fines and fees collected in ic amount of $2,008.71 was received nd ordered filed. The report of the County Sheriff (lowing fees collected in the 1st quar- er of 1948 in the amount of $31.40 as received and ordered filed. On motion and vote tax sale certif i- ate No.

H. i Minutes of April 6, 1948 were read and on motion and vote stand approved. Resolution of Weeds Resolution for destruction of all noxious weeds to all property owners. Be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Sioux County, Iowa, should cut, burn, or otherwise destroy all noxious weeds thereon as defined in said statute, at such times in or of year and in such manner as shall prevent said seeds from blooming or coming lo maturity. Noxious weeds shall be cut or otherwise destroyed on or before the following dates, and as often thereafter as It Is necessary to prevent said production: Group (1) June 16, 1948 for leafy spurge, perennial pepper, horse nettle perennial sow thistle, quack grass bntter print, punative vine, cockle- burr.

2. That each owner and person in possession or control of any lands in Sioux Couty, Iowa, which are infested with any primary noxious weeds including quack grass, perennial sow thistle, Canadian thistle, European Morning Glory or lundweed, horse nettle, leafy spurge, perennial pepper grass and Russian Knopweed shall adopt a program of weed destruction prescribed by the Weed Comissioners which in five (5) years may be expected to destroy and will immediately keep under control such infestation of said primary noxious weeds. 3. That all weeds other primary noxious weeds on all county roads or local country roads and between the fence lines thereof, shall be mowed by the adjoining property own- er, to prevent production on ore June 16, 1948. 4.

That rf the turner or person in. possession or control of any land in Siotnc County, Iowa, fails to comply with the foregoing orders, the Weed Commissioners shall destroy and MOW said weeds as provided in said order, and the expense of such. Trork, in- clnding costs, if any shall be assessed against the land and the owners thereof, as provided by 5. That the County Auditor be and hereby is directed to give notice of the making and entering of publication of this Resolution hi each of the official newspapers of Sioux County, Iowa. The County Auditor was authorized to place an order for 25 gallons of 2-4 weed killer.
