wholesale arrest of local butchers and candy makers were filed with the police today by Inspector Rnbblns of the State Board of Health who Is carry ing on te campaign for pure foods In Northern California Rnbbjns Is acting In conjunction with professor ti Jaffa director of the State Laboratory who has analysed the articles alleged In the complaints to have been adulter ated wlta harmful Ingredients During th summer months tho 8tats officials were actively engaged In col lectlng specimens ot candy soda waters meats and coffee for analysis wth the result that the present cam palgn promises to be far reaching and attended with vigorous prosecution In the courts A number of arrests were roado last April and June Robblns specifically charges that samples of candy known as candy chews said to have been sold In bulk and unlabeled have been found to contain paraffin an Indigestible substance and that much of the sausage meat hamburg steak and frankfurters examined contain both the coming gt neral election the question of local option by precinct for the granting nf liquor licenses This action was taken because a majority of the Supervisors be lieved It would be confusing to
