Tbe steamship Colocado. of tbe Mallory Line, is still held outtide the bar with some twenty fire passengers on board and a foil cargo of freight from New York. Gov. Egberts baa, as yet, taken no action on tbe address of tie Galveston board. This is tbe tenor of the dispatch.

The following explanation may assws to a correct of the existing state of aSairs: Tbe steamship Colorado left 8k Thomas en July 25'Jb for New York, and there loaded with freight and passengers for GalTeston. Before lear mg New York she obtained permission from tbe Galveston board to enter that port. After tbe Colorado had left hew York the citizens of Houston discovered the fact that pemriwwm had been granted to tbe steamer to ester the port at Galveston in violation of tbe Governor's proclamation, which forbade tie entrance of ail vessels touching at ports south oi latitude 20 north. itne Houston Board called the attention of tbe Garret ton Board to this fact he latter taking pactum, Houston then threatened to qnaractise against which the Galveston board reeacsidered their action and declined to admit the Colorado. Ttey referred the mattes to tbe Gorernor, wbo replied that tbe ship could enter prorided perroiasioa was obtained by unanimous consent of the Galrestoa board.

Therfcupoi, this body was mt mbVrd and tbe rose being taken on tbe question re suited in 5 for admission and 3 against. The ship realised outtida. The next dir another meetinz was called, and a unanimous rote giren in faror of admitting tbe Colorado. Houston took steps to quarantine, and it appears that the Gorernor then interfered aid held tbe ship for inreeuga tion. This is the situation at present.

It does seem that GalTeston cannot hold cat roach longer, bat will presently sex reader at discretion. A BAD BTKKT. Dear mt Brr, Mr. Wayaa at width. i BKdTfrf WkB Bach.

His bad reputation and attempt to conduct a canrass on the race issue greatly embittered the feelings of the white population against him. On Tuesday Baikadale waa informed that he might be attacked at any moment by Dixcn. Hence when he met the latter he fired upon him, with tbe result already published.
