Dan Noble's joke on the news media provoked a few mure laughs in the Colorado Senate State Affairs Committee Monday as the proposal was reconsidered and then rejected.

The Norwood Republican introduced the proposal last Wednesday in an attempt to call attention to his criticism of the media. The committee accepted the measure as an amendment to a package of Senate rule changes on a 4-2 vote. The proposal would have re- quired any reporter covering the legislature to attend the full deliberations of the Senate or a committee before any story could be published or broadcast A reporter could be 'deemed a i i i to. cover the legislature if hq violated the provisions. After Monday's committee meeting, Noble laughed when asked if the episode was worthwhile.

"I don't know," he said. "Time will tell." After agreeing to reconsider the motion, tiie committee voted unanimously to reject it. Noble said he came up with the idea a few hours before last week's committee meeting, and discussed it with several committee members. The committee chairman said he never seriously thought the committee would accept his idea, urging the media to "take it as a joke." KITCHEN CABINETS MURPHY LUMBER TENSION?
