The Huskers took the lead for the first time during the third quarter when Guy Ingles hauled in a 13-yard pass from Tagge. Jim Anderson intercepted an end zone pass by the Sooners on the final play of the game to clinch the victory. Oklahoma outrushed Nebraska, but Tagge's passes 14 completions in 22 throws for 200 yards and two touchdowns made the difference.

Wylie, Oklahoma's do-everything sophomore, led all rushers with 125 yards on 24 carries. Orduna and Jeff Kinney, alternate I-backs, led Nebraska rushers with 66 and 57 yards, respectively. the only blemish on its record this year is a tie with Southern California. The Sooners stopped the Nebraska attack twice in the first half close to the Sooner goal once when Johnny Rodgers fumbled after receiving a pass on the Sooner six and again minutes later when Joe Orduna was stopped cold on the one on a fourth-down play. Oklahoma's first tocuhdown came in the first half when quarterback Jack Mildren capped a 73-yard drive with a twisting five-yard run.

It didn't take Nebraska long to get the equalizer, however. Five plays after Rodgers returned the kickoff to the Nebraska 36, he was on the receiving end of a 53-yard scoring strike from Tagge. UP) Bill Planisek's 27-yard field goal with 48 seconds left Saturday gave Northwestern a 23-20 Big Ten victory over Michigan State. It was Planisek's third field goal of the afternoon. He had booted a 37-yarder earlier in the fourth quarter to give the Wildcats' a 20-20 tie. Northwestern jumped to a 17-0 lead in the first half but had to battle back in the second half for its first victory over Michigan. State in 11 games, dating back to 1924.

The victory earned the Wildcats a tie for second place in the Big Ten, their highest finish since 1948 when they were the runnerup team and received a Rose Bowl bid. However, they lost their chance for a Rose bid this time as Ohio State beat Michigan to finish unbeaten. Northwestern was 6-1 in the conference. Michigan State still was trying in the last seconds of the game but four incomplete passes by quarterback Mike Ras-mussen killed the last Sflartan hopes. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.

Colorado's bruising running attack demolished Sugar Bowi-bound Air Force Saturday, scoring 28 points in the second period for a 49-19 upset victory in the final season gamefor bom teams. Tentihjranked Air Force, in losing its second game of the season, got only two first downs in the first half and even when it got its offense untracked in the second half, gave up the ball on mistakes. Only Monday the Falcons had accepted a Sugar Bowl bid. Colorado, with 357 rushing yards in the first half, scored 35 points before intermission, and then turned the game over to its defense. Air Force's Bob Parker, the fifm best passer in the country, was intercepted four times, with two of them coming in the Colorado end zone to stop Falcon scoring drives in the second Falcon tailback Brian Bream and flanker Ernie Jen-: nings, the most potent scoring pair in collegeHfootball history with 38 touchdowns, were held to one score.

Bream' plunged in from one-yard out in the final period. Air Force's only score until the final minutes was produced by the defense, when Colorado's John Tarver. coughed up a fumble on the Air Force 10 in the first period and Falcon defensive back Scott Hamm pulled it in and ran all the way for the touchdown. It was the only spark for Air Force in the first half, in which the Falcons were held to 48 yards. Colorado then scored 42 straight points with seven different players getting into the act.

i Starting Colorado quarterback Jim Bratten, who was injured in the second period, tossed a 42-yard score to Willie Nichols and carried in another from seven yards out. Substitute Paul Arndt hit Larry Brunson on a perfect 63-yard score and ran in another 15-yarder. Jon Keyworth scored two touchdowns on runs of 30 and three yards, while Tarver scored on a five-yard blast up the middle. Air Force, which lost to Oregon, 45-36, two weeks ago, did not produce a touchdown with its offense until 8:36 was left in the game. Parker connected with Mike Bolen on a five-yard toss.

Penhall, throwing most of 'the time while on the run, baffled Stanford's defense by completing 18 of 36 passes for 231 yards.

His touchdown throw covered 10 yards to Bob Darby and he ran, one yard for the olher California score. The California defense, led by tackle Sherman White, shut Plunkett off every time the Indians made a serious move. Stanford, which will meet Big Ten champion Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, finished with back-to-back loses for an 8-3 mark. Plunkett, college football's alMdme passing and total-offense champ, connected on 18 of 32 passes for 250 yards and Stanford's two touchdowns, but his statistics didn't include a half dozen plays where he missed men in the clear. Once, with the Indians rolling, Plunkett threw the ball right into the hands of a California defender.

And the last two times Stanford got the ball, he fumbled away the ball and threw an interception. The Golden Bears jumped to a 13-0 lead before Plunkett finally found the range.
