"Devil Dogs' Do CIRCUIT COURT OF CHILTON COUNTY HERE THIS WEEK HONOR ROLL FOR CLANTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL' if Firt Honor Roll The following pupils have made an average above 90, and have ndl been time. In the early stages of theame an old hurt to his knee was renewed, which kept him from showing all the stuff he has. In the first half it was Hammell wo tackled, blocked, intercepted passes, and carried the ball. It was distinctly Ed Hammell's day, with all due regard for the good work of his team mates. Every man individually oh both lines played well throughout the gamer That the score was not different may be due to the fact that Verbena consistently broke up the forward passes Hayes hurled for long distances, and that they were prob absent or tardy: Seventh Grade Annie Cowart) Leroy Mima.

And it's VERBENA BLUEJACKETS HOLD TIGERS 00 ably helped by the slow field and heavy ball.

However, Verbena played the forward pass'well, and found the 'ball heavy and slick and the field muddy, too, when the ball was in their possession. Verbena will not offer the weathef or mud or the heaviness of the ball as an alibi that they did not score. A Clanton man or two tackled a fraction of a second too early for Dansby to make that touchdown. Verbena considers the score, in the light of the high rating of the Tigers, an the fact that'in the last few minutes of the game she outplayed Clanton in every department, to be a happy closing to her intital year in football. Not a man of the Verbena team had before this year donned a football uniform, and while the team is still a new one its followers are.just-ly proud of its first year's record.

Dansby and DeRamus will be out next year. In the event all the others are 'back in harness, Verbena will put out a team that will reckon with the best. by the way Clanton's nearest approach to eVrbena's goal line was 20 yards, with the ball in Verbena's possession after a punt. about half of the field. These gains were offset by costly fumbles. Ver-'bena intercepted pass after pass, and thus broke up the aerial route over which Clantno has relied so much to gain the victory. What with the passes intercepted and held, and the forward passes completed by the Verbena aggregation, the visitors outplayed their opponents at their own game, while the end runs and line bucks were about eualq. Jack Hayes starred for Clanton, as he usually does.

His generalship, courtesy and clean sportmanship throughout the game was of the highest order. Other members of the Tigers played well, especially men in the line. In the last few minutes of the game Norris for Verbena intercepted a forward pass and raced with it within the ten yard zone of Clanton, all but getting away for a touchdown. Clanton's line became a stone wall, and held for three downs. DeRamus then threw a forward pass to Dansby, who was downed on the one foot line.

Before Clanton could line up to snap the ball the whistle blew, and the game was over. Verbena's line was ajl 'but impregnable Jack Hayes made some few gains through it. Ed Hammell could plunge through Clanton's line for gains, failing to make yards only one SWEATERS We have a big lot of Sweaters which we must move.
