Emerson Evelyne J. Emerson, 61, of 701 N. 10th St, Wausau, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 1995, at her home. She was born on Sept.

2, 1934, in the town of Sigel, Chippewa County, the daughter of Rodeema (Wood) Parsons and the late Arthur Parsons. She married Roy Emerson on Aug. 7, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cadott. He survives.

Evelyne grew up and attended Cadott-area schools, she graduated from high school in 1952. She had been active in Cadott Cub Scouts, serving as a Den Mother for six years. She was employed by the Wausau Daily Herald for 14 years. Her favorite pastime was reading. Survivors besides her husband Roy Emerson, Wausau, and her mother Rodeema Parsons, Boyd, include one son, Michael (Cathy) Emerson, Wausau; one sister, Faye (LeRoy) McGary, Menomonie; and two grandsons, Charles and Andrew Emerson.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Cadott. The Rev.

Gerald Herman will officiate. Burial will be in Brooklawn Cemetery, Cadott. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, and again one hour Wednesday before the time of services at the church.

Strasser, 82, of 609 7th Marathon, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 1995, at her home. She was born April 21, 1913, in the town of Cas- sel, the daughter of the late John and Frances (Wentland) Koppa. She married Raymond Strasser Reglna Strasser on ept. 1, 1934, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in the town of Cassel.

He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1990. Regina loved flower and vegetable gardening. She was a member of the Adult Funeral Choir of St. Mary's Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis (Leo) Wawrzyniec, Mosinee, Diana Kuehn, Lombard, 111., and Shirley (Don) Wiesman, Mosinee; two sons, Dennis Strasser, Fifield, and DuWayne Strasser, Merrill; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucy Wilichowski, Wausau, Veronica Lewandoski, Wausau, and Sister Mary Bertrande, Polo-nia; two brothers, Philip (Julia) Koppa, Wausau, and Prosper (Dorothy) Koppa, Marathon. She was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene and Hilarian; two grandchildren, Daniel and Cynthia Wawrzyniec; one sister, Sister Virginella; and two brothers, Adolph and Henry Koppa. Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at St.

Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon. Fr. Larry Abler, O.F.M. will officiate. Burial will be at St.

Mary's Parish Cemetery, Marathon. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tues day at Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again from 11:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the church.

There will be a Parish Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, Walter E. Urban Walter E. Urban, 81, of 805 Weston Rothschild, died Friday, Dec. 29, 1995, at the Wausau Hospital.

He was born Feb. 2, 1914, to the late George and Marie (Laut) Urban. He married Delphine Marko on June 3, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Dancy. She survives.

Walt was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed his retirement playing pinochle against semi-professional talent, fishing with his buddies, hunting with his brother "Hans" and maintaining the granddaughters cars. Survivors besides his wife Delphine Urban, include two daughters, Dianne (Thomas) Heimerl, Phelps, and Jeanne (James) Cole, Minneapolis; two granddaughters, Brooke Heimerl, Stevens Point, and Beth Heimerl, Minneapolis; one brother, Arnold (Frances) Urban, Rothschild. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Grove, Irene Zandler, Marion Urban and two brothers, George and William Urban. Memorial Services will be at noon Wednesday, Jan.

"First of all, one is too many." The Texas-based study, conducted by the Arlington, Texas, Police Department and the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute in Richardson, Texas, found that nearly half the departments cited had no specific policy for dealing with domestic abuse.

The study was released last year. But now, a heightened awareness over domestic violence has prompted police departments nationwide to initiate counseling, education and prevention programs. "They're not going to wait until there's an episode that makes the front page," said Kevin Love, professor of management at Central Michigan University and a police expert. "They're more interested in doing a program to help the officers, to avoid the negative publicity all together." One of the factors contributing to domestic violence among police officers is their work: Many find it hard to let go of the aggressive behavior often required on the job once they get home, said Detroit Police Commander John Courie. Erna attended eight Erna Zimmermann grades at the District 1 joint WausauEast School. She became a teacher, attending the Marathon County Normal School, graduating in 1911. Her first teaching position was in the town of Harrison. She taught at Genrich School, the town of Hewitt in 1912, and the Easton School District 2 from 1919 to 1920. She taught at the Woodlawn School and the Upper Kelly School.

After teaching, she was a clerk at the Fair Store in Wausau and then worked at the office at Wisconsin Public Service. In 1934 she became the first City Hostess for the Wausau businesses becoming associated with the Welcome Wagon in 1938 and continued this occupation for 25 years. This led her to start the Newcomers Club of Wausau in 1942. Survivors include nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 4, 1996, at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Clarence Harms will offi ciate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church, Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. Violet M. Kulawinski Violet M. Kulawinski, 75, of 404 N.

10th Wausau, died Monday, Jan. 1, 1996, at Wausau Hospital. She was born July 14, 1920, in Marathon County, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kosisko) Janisch. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St.

Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Survivors include three daughters, Judy (Phil) Hill, Irma, Victoria (Robert) Prather, Wausau, and Mary Kay (Jim) Costelloe, Racine; two sons, Kenneth (Nancy) Cul-bert, Hooper, and Patrick (Jean) Culbert, Monroe; one brother, Walter (Marv) Janisch, Wausau; four sisters, Emma Ringle, Edgar, Ruth (David) Stencil, Wausau, Iva Hansen, Green Bay, and Ila Goetsch, Wausau; 12 grandchildren, Todd, Tammy, James, Jesse, Sarah, Julie, Eric, Darrin, Casidy, Mason, Kimberly and Tessie; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Kendra and Cody. Shoplifting, a 23-year-old Wausau man was arrested Friday on preliminary charges of shoplifting, probation violation and driving while intoxicated after police investigated a complaint the man left a restaurant without paying for two breakfast specials. During the investigation, officers also arrested a 21-year-old man on warrant charges after learning the man left the Marathon County Jail Thursday on a pass but didn't return. Twenty-eight percent of 123 police departments that serve populations of 100,000 or more across the country reported increases in the past year in domestic violence cases involving officers, a Texas-based study found. Wausau Disorderly conduct, a 37-year-old Wausau man was arrested early Saturday morning on preliminary charges of disorderly conduct and bail jumping after a 46-year-old Wausau woman reported the man wouldn't leave her home. Police responding to the complaint found the man sleeping on the living room floor and a 42-year-old man hiding in a closet. The other man left the home without incident, but the 37-year-old man shouted at the woman and police when they awoke him, a report said. Drunken driving, a 31-year-old Wausau man was arrested at 2:35 a.m. Sunday on preliminary charges of a fourth offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second offense of operating a vehicle after his license was revoked and possession of marijuana.

A Wausau police officer stopped the man after allegedly watching the car the man was driving swerve on the road in the 500 block of South 12th Avenue, a report said. Domestic battery, a 32-year-old Wausau man was arrested at 5:55 a.m. Monday on preliminary charges of domestic battery and false imprisonment after allegedly holding his live-in girlfriend in their garage for three hours early Monday, pushing her against a wall and refusing to let her leave to go out to a tavern. Domestic battery, a 30-year-old Wausau man was arrested at 3:40 a.m. Monday on a preliminary charge of domestic battery after a 30-year-old woman told police he pulled her hair and twisted her arm during an argument, a report said.

The man told police he was watching the woman's 4-year-old daughter while she went out to celebrate the new year and called her home because the girl became ill. The woman told police the girl wasn't ill, and the man just wanted her to come home, so they began to argue when she arrived, the report said. Disorderly conduct, a 34-year-old Wausau man was arrested about 10:45 p.m. Sunday on a preliminary charge of domestic disorderly conduct after a 29-year-old woman told police that during an argument the man threatened to harm her, a report said. Underage drinking, a 16-year-old Wausau boy was arrested about 12:25 a.m.

Monday on preliminary charges of underage drinking and driving too fast for conditions after allegedly crashing a Ford Bronco into a large snowbank, a report said. Stolen car, police began a search early Monday for two Chicago area men after they allegedly stole a black 1984 Chevrolet Camaro while it was parked at Kicker's Bar, 2108 N. Sixth St, a report said. An acquaintance of the men, ages 18 and 23, told police they also stole two jugs of pennies from her Wausau home and headed toward Chicago about 1 a.m., the report said.
