giar vy cancaudy, mey For help in solving problems, Kokua cutting red tape and answering questions: Line Telephone -525-8686 or write: Kokua Line, Box 3080, By Harriet Gee There is half of a house right smack at the end of Puamoa and Hahaione streets in Hawaii Kai. It's been there for some time now and could be dangerous to the kids who play nearby. My kids aren't allowed to play down there. Would you please look into this? A That half of the house A That half of the house should be gone by the end of this month when the property it will be moved to is prepared properly. The other half of the house was moved earlier.

A city building inspector said the original homeowner was cited in March 1980 for keeping a structurally damaged building and ordered it repaired or removed. The house was under construction and almost complete when the ground beneath it settled, causing the house to crack, an inspector told Kokua Line. The homeowner sued the former land owner who later bought the house. He now is moving it to another location. Is there any club that is collecting old newspapers for recycling? A Wendell Hosea, general manager of Consolidated Fibres, says about two dozen groups collect old newspapers and are paid 1 cent a pound for them.

His firm is the only one on Oahu that buys papers for recycling. People may call him at 548-3400 and he will tell you which group is closest to you so you won't have to travel across town to his plant. Kaneohe Congregational Church is the group closest to you. Could you tell me how long it takes for the state to process tax returns? I mailed my tax return in late March and I still have not received my refund. But I have received my federal tax refund.

Where or whom can I contact to find out about my state tax return? A You should be receiving your state refund any day now, unless there was an unusual problem in your case. David Miyahira, administrator of the state income tax branch, said yesterday that i it takes about eight weeks to process a return. If you still have not received your refund in 10 weeks, call Miyahira's office at 548-7566 and a tracer will be placed on your return. Shirley Nakagawa of the Internal Revenue Service said federal Honolulu, Hi 96802 unless there was something unusual about the case. If there is a problem, Nakagawa said, the taxpayer is notified as soon as possible.

Refunds are delayed in many cases because of a wrong address or because the taxpayer failed to notify the IRS of his new address. I received a traffic ticket for speeding last month which I contested. I was told by the information person at Ewa District Court that the trial date would be in May or early June. I now find that the court date is in late July, when we have planned an extended summer vacation. Can I just pay the fine or do I have to appear in court? A You must appear in court in person since speeding is a moving violation.

You may not pay the fine by mail. If you now want to plead guilty, there should no problem in getting a hearing date before your vacation. Ask the Ewa court clerk for an earlier date. If you still want to contest the charge, ask for a later trial date. Auwe "Auwe to the neighbor in the 4100 block of Likini Street who writes letters of complaint and puts them in our mailboxes.

Far Out Honor ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) With the glistening sands of White Sands Missile Range in the background, shuttle astronauts Jack R. Lousma and C. Gordon Fullerton were inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame here yesterday. Lousma said it was "poetic" that the induction should occur at the mountainside museum with the white gypsum landing strip in sight.

The astronauts ended the shuttle's third mission March 30 when they landed the spaceship on the sand. The fourth and final test flight is to take off from Cape Canaveral, on June 27. About 300 people applauded as New Mexico Gov. Bruce King presented plaques to Lousma and Fullerton, making them the 59th and 60th inductees into the Hall of Fame. Loren, who has proclaimed her innocence, was met at Leonardo da Vinci airport by a police officer and taken away to the prison, about a three-hour drive south, in an unmarked car. Officers at the prison at Caserta, 20 miles from Loren's hometown Naples, said she was put in a cell alone and appeared to be in good spirits. It was her first visit to Italy in two years. Degree for Walesa PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Lech Walesa, the interned leader of Poland's suspended Solidarity labor union, has been named the recipient of an honorary degree from Providence College. The degree was accepted for Walesa by Monsignor George C. Higgins, principal celebrant at a Mass that opened Solidarity's first national congress in Gdansk, Poland, last October. Walesa has been interned outside Warsaw since December, when he and other Solidarity leaders were taken into custody in a crackdown on the union, which had pressed for political and labor reforms.

"You are man whose spirit cannot be confined," read the citation accompanying the degree for Walesa. "You are absent from us; but being absent, you are all the more present to us; for as the interned symbol of the longing of the Polish people for freedom, you are in the hearts of free people everywhere." Papal Birthday N.Y. Times Service ROME It was the 62nd birthday of Pope John Paul II, but there was no special celebration yesterday as the pope put in what Vatican officials described as a normal day's work. In addition to greetings from wellwishers, there was a special birthday message from Vatican Radio, which noted the pope's recovery from the assassination attempt last year and said, "We are happy because the holy father has returned to total capacity of his work and his mission." The pope was apparently content to get on with his work, but not because he has anything against birthday parties. Vatican officials said he considered his name day, the Feast of St.

When they asked, the smiling princess answered with variations like "It's a boy, I hope" and "I hope it's a boy, but we'll just have to wait and When someone asked her what Prince Charles, whom she married last July 29, was doing these days, the 21- year old princess smiled and said, "Sitting at home reading books about pregnancy."
