"Sometimes I stop for a moment on the stage and wonder what I am doing up here, a grown man singing in strange costumes." Ludgin said in an interview during last night's rehearsal for the "Dutchman" which will premiere tomorrow night at 8 in the Concert Hall. Acclaimed in a number of American opera productions during the past couple of years, Ludgin has an unusual musical background and, according to reviews and notices in Opera News, A bright future on that very stage which sometimes looks strange to him. HE IS THE PRODUCT of a quite different kind of stage those of nightclubs and variety shows. He sang and played the man' with Milton Berle, starred in New York's City's Latin Quarter, did many nightclub and variety show engagements.

Coming out of the Army (where he was with military police, all 6 feet and 4 inches of him), Ludgin used his GI Bill scholarship to attend the American Theater Wing to study acting. His interest in singing began when he joined Robert Shaw's Collcgiatp Chorale because, were some real good-looking girls with the group."
