He said an airline strike left him with three hours' sleep, his wife suffered a virus attack and a sister underwent major surgery. "It was the first time I ever had to cancel out, and I regret it but it was just too said Maddox who had been scheduled to address a New England Rally for God, Family and Country in Boston.

He said he hopes to be invited back in the future. Miles Davis Adds Sour Note NEW YORK -Newport Jazz Festival New York promoter George Wein believes trumpeter Davis and chess master Bobby Fischer have a lot in common. Woodcock said the rules had been upset when the party denied McGovern 153 of California's convention delegates. "To upset the rules after the game is bad," he said. -Arthur H. Bremer, charged with the shooting of Alabama Gov. George' C. Wallace, has been transferred from the Baltimore County Jail to Clifton T. Perkins State Hospital for a court-ordered mental examination.

Bremer has entered pleas of innocent by reason of insanity to assault and gun law violations in connection with the wounding of Wallace last May 15 at a shopping center in Laurel, Md.
