the world in one great brotherhood is what President Roosevelt said of music And this thought is annually being effected in the efforts of the Ogden Community-Weber College Concert association as it brings each year to our community a varied program featuring artists from over the world A buffet supper at the home of Mrs Stuart Dobbs on Thursday evening started the spring campaign for the association drive for membership this year A large group of enthusitstic persons who compile the sales corps of the organization attended Plans were made to put over this campaign between Monday and Saturday of this week David Ferguson western representative of the Community Concert association was presenL Assisting Mrs Dobbs who is secretary and campaign manager was Mrs Royal Eccles vice president The membership campaign usually is conducted in the fall but due to the fact that so many of the best artists are already signed before the fall season the officers of the local group thought it best to open the campaign in the spring This arrangement also gives the school teachers and students an opportunity to join if they choose it was reported by Mrs-Dobbs It is also stated by the officers that they have procured some excellent numbers for the program and that it should be an outstanding year Some of the special features on the series are the Columbia All-Star Opera Quartet including Igor Gorin Josephine Tuminia Helen Olheim and Nino Martini Busch and Serkin noted pianist and violinlsL and Mia Slavenska Yuga-slavian prima Ballerina Igor Gorin who has favored Ogden with a visit before is the famous baritone who has been featured for over 100 weeks on the "Hollywood Hotel and other radio programs as well as in many starring roles with the Chicago and Cincinnati Opera companies Helen Olheim a leading mezzo soprano of the Metropolitan Opera company for the past eight years has won fame for her roles as Mercedes in Maddalena in Frederick in Siebel in and Suzuki in She has done also considerable radio work Nino Martini sensational tenor of opera and concert fame is also a member of the Metropolitan Opera company His pure bel canto American concert pianist at the nephew Dr Harry Thomas Lyon of Montreal Quebec Canada to Miss Vivianne Marie Leontine DeGrauwe Dr Lyon who is a resident physician of the Royal Victoria hospital at Montreal is a former resident of Ogden and has many friends here He is a son of Mrs Pearl Lyon Harris of Santa Maria Calif and of the late Lyon of Idaho Falls Idaho He is a graduate in medicine of Stanford and McGill universities Miss DeGrauwe is a daughter of Mr and Mrs DeGrauwe of Outremont The couple will reside in Montreal after their marriage Telitha Ellis Will Marry Aviation Cadet Lindquist Highlighting nuptial news in Ogden this week is the announcement by Mr and Mrs John Franklin Ellis of the egagement of their daughter Telitha to Aviation Cadet John A Lindquist son of Mrs A Lindquist of 2741 Adams The wedding is being planned to take place in the immediate future The nuptial news was revealed at an announcement tea given by Mrs Ellis and her daughter at their home 2529 Jackson on Saturday afternoon between
