SUNDAY MORNING FEBRUARY 21 1937 IN CHARGE OF OTYOKWA CLUB DANCE Drill Team Holds No-Host Dinner Indian Village Is Motif Used At Club Dance vk- vv Pomp Rules 1937 Annual Army Dance Military pomp and splendor prevailed at the annual formal ball given by the Salt Lake City chapter of the Reserve Officers association of the United States Army Friday night at the Hotel Utah Colonel Jacob A son of Salt Lake City was chairman of the event At nine the grand march took place led by Governor and Mrs Henry Blood Attractive favors were presented to the ladies during the evening Guests from Ogden and near vicinities included Captain and Mrs Savage Captain and Mrs Porter Robbins Lieut and Mrs Joseph Sangberg Cologne! and Mrs Nims Colonel and Mrs Ralph Poulton Captain and Ms Floyd Gbates of the Otyokwa club of Weber college (Photo bylvelanfstud) Weber County Board Of Pioneers Convenes Women of Moose Hold Meeting In New Room One of Weber outstanding social events of the season was the annual dancing party held by the Otyokwa club in the Weber college ballroom last Saturday Approximately 400 alumni members and invited guests attended The decorations created the atmosphere of an Indian village The central decoration was a large white teepee upon which Indian signs were painted iU green carrying out the club colors of green and white Picturesque Hopl Indian dolls were in each window and two large totem poles were on either side of the orchestra stand Around the orchestra were miniatures of the large teepee A reproduction of the pin gold and pearl crossed arrows was placed above the balcony The song was sung by members of the club Girls sponsoring the dance were President Valine Checketts Vice President Phyllis Moyer Secretary Lois Ensign Treasurer Nora Lou Allen and Alice Balan Margaret Gaddie Marie Holland Leone Grandy Alice Harris Phillis Brown Ruth Goddard Marcia Nicholas Barbara Bingham Josephine Stone Ellen Miner Evelyn Buehler Helen Abbott Maxine Scillian Evelyn Otyokwa club entertained their partners at a delightful buffet luncheon in the Spanish room of the Hotel Ben Lomond Those in attendance were Valine Checketts and Woodrow Peterson Phillis Mayer and the Bee Hive girls of the Fourth ward at the dance on Friday evening in the recreational halL Her partner was Jack -Dial son of Mrs Emma Dial Maids of honor were Dorothy Woodbury and La-Von Chatland The small son and daughter of Mr and Mrs James acted as train bearers First Aid Club Elects Officers New officers elected by the First Aid club of the American Red Cross at its regular meeting Wednesday evening "are as follows Nina Langford president William Goddard vice president Kathrine Seibold secretary-treasurer Seth Reeder reporter Retiring officers were: Seth Reeder president Johanna Griffith vice president Marge Me-Entee secretary treasurer Seibold reporter Dr Praper gave an interesting talk on first aid and the care of various-kinds of fractures The club will meet again March 3 Wednesday evening Supper Follows Ball of Pep Club Following the Cupids Ball held by the Girls association of the Weber High school the Pep club of the school entertained their partners at a buffet
