Harvard graduates. It covers the range of Latino spiritual life and highlights the influence of mestizos, or people of mixed blood, on American culture. "You start to see the Asian, the African, the mestizo, like me, of all of us and you start to realize the beauty and the dignity of the culture," Olmos said. Matrix stars training hard for sequel NEW YORK (AP) Carrie-Anne Moss won't be able to cruise through the sequels to "The Matrix" by relying on the martial-arts moves she learned for the original movie.

"They want more intense fighting, more complicated moves," Moss said in Australia, where two sequels to "The Matrix" are being filmed. Moss and her co-stars in the sequels, Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, are going through intensive training to improve their martial-arts skills, she told USA Today for Friday's editions. American star Marc Anthony leading a field that includes musicians from Mexico, Colombia and more. "Frasier," 8 p.m., and 8:30 p.m., NBC. Two reruns help set up next week's season-opener.

In the first, Niles fumes when Daphne seems interested in a handsome guy with a huge dog; in the second, Frasier's dreams of island romance with Claire (Patricia Clarkson) are complicated by his past relationship with Lana. Handsome young pilots (Freddie Prinze, Jr.

and Matthew Lillard) try to save the Earth in this adaptation of a computer game. By Mike Hughes Gannett News Service Imagine "Survivor" with better food, "Temptation Island" with better intentions, "Real World" in skimpy swimsuits. Now you have "Love Cruise: The Maiden Voyage," (8 p.m., FOX), a reasonably entertaining show. Nestled on a 236-foot ship are eight men, ages 24-33, and eight women, ages 21-33. All are single and eager; they are city dwellers with white-collar jobs.

Now they're cruising from Grenada to Aruba. First are quickie conversations, called flash-dating; then couples will pair up for two days apiece, while playing truth and relationship games. Each week, two of the people will be voted off, until a winning couple gets money and a world trip. Yes, there is some scheming and role-playing here, but it TV BEST BETS lacks the nastiness or shallowness of FOX's "Temptation Island." The show is produced by Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray, who started it all with "The Real World." They bring a strong sense of human relationships. "Love Cruise" has bodies to gawk at, but it also has people to root for.

It's not part of the fall schedule, but it provides eight weeks of September-October fun. Other highlights "The Mind of a Married Man" premiere (9 p.m.) and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" season-opener (9:30 p.m.), both HBO. Two series burrow into the minds of some eccentric men. The first is created by Mike Binder, a talented comedian, writer and director. He plays a guy with a bright and attractive wife (played by British actress Sonya Walger), who still finds lots of reason for angst, sexual and otherwise.

There are few big laughs here, but there are some wry and witty moments. The second is a semi-scripted show based on an exaggerated version of the life of Larry David, the "Seinfeld" co-creator. Tonight, David (playing himself) buys a mega-house, meets with Alexander (who played George Costanza, a character David partly patterned after himself) and even becomes a car salesman. The car segment is especially funny. "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" 7 p.m., ABC.

The sports-themed celebrity game continues. "Latin Grammv Awards," 8-10 p.m., CBS. There's an international feeling here, with A I I fainted. "It was like a movie. He is a heroic guy a very kind person who is always considerate." It really was like a movie; McConaughey played a similar scene in this year's romantic comedy "The Wedding Planner," in which he rescues Jennifer Lopez's character from a potentially serious accident. She hits her head, and when she regains consciousness, McConaughey's character is hovering over her, caring for her. The 31-year-old actor had no comment about the encounter. Backstreet Boy helps raise lupus awareness BOSTON (AP) Howie of the Backstreet Boys spent some time with patients at Children's Hospital to help raise awareness of the disease lupus. He joined patients and doc- tors on Sunday to promote a new alliance that will make it easier for patients to participate in medical research.

The singer, whose full name is Howie Dorough, founded the Dorough Lupus Foundation after his sister, Caroline, died from the disease. The foundation has teamed up with Veritas Medicine, an online resource providing information on clinical trials and treatment for lupus and more than 50 other diseases. The singer signed autographs and talked to patients, some of whom were overwhelmed with emotion. "It just brings a good feeling to my heart to come back out here and visit these sometimes-sick patients and bring a little happiness to their lives," he said. Lupus is a disease that causes the immune system to attack the body's own tissue.

It mostly affects women between the ages of 15 and 44. "There's only so much different you can do in daytime which is what I'm learning. "I think there's a formula and some cases have proven that that formula works. So the objective isn't to reinvent the wheel but to make it spin a little more smoothly." The 28-year-old Lewis, an MTV host who previously appeared on BET, said she won't let her show dip into sleazy topics.

"My producers know I'm not here for that," she said. "If it ever got like that, I got a lot of places to go back to, namely San Diego and my mom and dad. And I'm not ashamed of that." "Americanos: Latino Life in the United States," which opened Sunday at the Boston Public Library, celebrates the diversity of the nation's Hispanic population. One of the exhibit's 120 photographs, of a child whose brow is furrowed in concentration over a chess board, is among Olmos personal favorites. "When I first saw it I started to cry, something so simple, so basic," the 54-yearold actor said. "Who puts chess with Latinos? Nobody. Or water polo? Or surfing?
