Doctors reattached the right foot of a 13-year-old girl involved in a gruesome amusement park accident, but her left foot was too severely damaged to repair, her family and doctor said in a statement Tuesday. Kaitlyn Lasitter of Louisville remained in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Dr. Douglas Weikert, a surgeon and assistant professor at Vanderbilt, said in the statement.

"Things are progressing as expected over this first 10 days," he said. Lasitter's feet were severed just above the ankles as she rode the Superman Tower of Power thrill ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on June 21. 850.471.1 291 825 w. Hilton Hotels being sold for $26 billion Gary Gentile Associated Press LOS ANGELES Hilton Hotels Corp. said Tuesday it has agreed to be acquired by The Blackstone Group LP in an all-cash transaction valued at $26 billion. The private equity group agreed to buy all outstanding Hilton shares for $47.50 each, a 32 percent premium over Tuesday's closing stock price. Hilton's board approved the deal Tuesday.

The company said the deal would close in the fourth quarter pending shareholder approval. "Our board of directors concluded that this transaction provides compelling value for our shareholders with a significant premium," Stephen Bollenbach, Hilton's co-chairman and chief executive, said in a statement. The acquisition would take Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels private and boost Blackstone's portfolio of lodging properties. Blackstone owns more than 100,000 hotel rooms in the United States and Europe, including La Quinta Inns and Suites as well as LXR Luxury Resorts and Hotels. Hilton Hotels owns or operates 2,800 hotels and 480,000 rooms in 76 countries and territories and includes such brands as Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn.

Among Hilton's premier hotels is the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. The city medical examiner's office will maintain a presence at the site indefinitely while construction continues in case excavations unearth more human remains, Deputy Mayor Ed Sky-ler said. Hundreds of human bones, ranging from fragments to full arm and leg bones have been found since October. Construction is under way on a skyscraper, a Sept. 11 memorial and a transit hub. Four more office towers and a performing arts center are planned.

The last office tower is scheduled to be finished by 2013. The search since October has yielded 677 pieces of human bones in and around ground zero; an additional 785 have been found in the past two years in a vacant skyscraper damaged on Sept. 11, 2001. 599SOFAt Was $699.
