Dropping temperatures on Saturday helped ice over more roadways as the morning progressed on both the Peninsula and the Southside, the Virginia Department of Transportation said. More than a dozen incidents on Interstate 64 shut down lanes up and down the Peninsula throughout the day. Some roads in Poquoson and Hampton were reported flooded and impassable in the late morning after the rain and snow mixture. At least two deaths were attributed to the weather, Virginia State Police said.
