i SAVE $101.95 An open letter the citizens and voters of Bay County FROM: VERNON (Buddy) ANDERSON Candidate For Commissioner District 5 County Dear Fellow Citiiens: Being a candidate seeking to be your County Commissioner from district five, I wish to take this opportunity to tell you something about myself, my perience, and my platform. I was born in Bay County the son of Borruss and Irene (Calhoun) Anderson (who are also life-long residents of the county). I Bay County Secondary Schools and furthered my education by 'attending college at night, during my military enlistment. While in the U.S. Navy, I was seleded along with another Panama Citian, to serve with the Defense Atomic Support Agency, I was awarded a Top Secret Security deorance, after a background investigation of my life and handled highly classified material as a responsible and dedicated American.

1 returned to Bay County aftei- my military enlistment and married the former Dolly Holden, the daughter, of Charles and Mary (Scott) Holden. We have four children, own our own property and we offend the West Bay Baptist Church. I'm a member of the West Bay Men's Club and being an avid Sportsman I was formerly the president of the Pt, Washington Deer HontersAssoc. Inc. I have been active in other local sporting clubs, as well as the Florida Wildlife Federation, the National Wildlife Federation and the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

1 have been employed as a Field Engineer with American Div. U.5._Sfeel on Engineering Surveyor-For' Michael Baker Inc. Consulting Engineers and Planners, (Consultants to such companies as Gulf Power Co. and U.S. Army Corps, of Engineers), I worked for a short time as a Quantity and Cost estimator for a Road and Bridge contractor.

I was formerly the supervisor of a local municipal Sanitary Sewer System that cost over two million dollars. My experience has been in the same type of work, that is primarily that of a county commissioner. In Planning, quantity and cost studies and construction of Roods, Drainage, water and sewer utilities, More of your tax dollars are spent on these Engineering Projects than anything else. In fact over 75 per cent. For this reason, I feel thot Bay County should have at least one county commissioner with Engineering experience.

My platform, which includes the desire to see Bay County adopt proper rood specifications, is that I will use my experience in the areas that most of vour tax dollar is spent, to see that they ore spent properly and conservatively and in the'best interest of the could result in a substantial savings, and therefore provide more money for other worthwhile programs. I Love: Bay County and I resent seeing it exploited business men, who would destroy it's natural beauty and resources, strictly for the purpo.se of persona! economic gain, without regard tothe environment of our life-community. For the economic- parts of the biotic dock will not function without the uneconomic parts. If eleded your county commissioner from district will serve as a full time county commissioner and out in the cpunty with you, to discuss each individual problem. hope that you will approve of my experience, as my qualifications for the office of county commissioner, an9 eled me to'serye you in district five, and I will with the honesty and dignity that the office deserves.

THANK YOU VERNQN (Buddy) ANDERSON Paid Pol, Ady. "It was a good pre-season," -Saban said. "Now it's ail on the line from here on in. I think we answered most of our riuestions in the last eight weeks but there are still some things we have to do." Saban did a few things of his own before the game, like installing second-year wide receiver Bob Chandler at a starting post. Chandler caught only four for touchdowns and two for key first downs.

"We just wanted to go with Saban said in i the last-minute switch. "We've made no I decision on whether he'll start I during the regular season." i After Mike Clark booted a 37- i yard field goal late in the first quarter, Buffalo quarterback Denns Shaw found Chandler all alone in the end zone on a 14- yard pass play to make it lO-O. Tom Dempsey kicked a 15- yard field goal for the Eagles at 9 of the second period and quarterback John Reaves, substituting for starter Pete Liske, hit tight end Gary Ballman with an H-yard scoring pass to tie it up just five-minutes later. Clark gave the Bills a 13-10 halftime edge as he connected on a 40 yarder. The Shaw-to-Chandlcr conv bination clicked again on a nine-yard of the third quarter just four plays after BilV punter Spike Jones faked a punt and gallsiied the Eagles' 44 to the Philadelphia 22-yarrl line.

Buffalo linebacker Paul Guidry ran 26 yards with a Reaves fumble on the next Philadelphia series. Eagles Linebacker Bob Creech followed the act at 7:46 of the fourth quarter when he ran 47 yards for a seme after a fumble by Jim Harris. Bills Coach John Rauch, who guided the club through the 1969 and 1970 season, had some candid comments about his former club and its personnel. Rauch, who now coaches the I-lagle's offensive hacks, believes the Bills have matured since the last time he saw them. "Their draft choices are paying off," Rauch said.

"They're a much more mature football team. O. is now a much better football player. The defense got better. (Al) Cowlings has matured.

Edgar Chandler sticks out well on 1 first came to Buffalo they wanted to cut him. They were thinking of cutting (Wayne) Patrick too." Patrick is currently the Bills' first string running back, along with Simpson. The game may have proved costly for the Bills in the kicking department. Clark, who was obtained on waivers this week from Dallas, suffered what may have been a broken arm while making a tackle at the start of the second half. Saban said it appeared Clark's arm was broken but that X-rays will be taken to be positive.
