July 13,1983 Forest Mall ready for Store Wars Amidst displays of Star Wars Forest Mall Merchants Association president, the purpose of the Sidewalk Sale is to clear summer goods and make way for the new fall merchandise now arriving. The theme "Store Wars" ties into the popular Star Wars movie "Return of the Jedi." now showing at the Cinema Theatre. Forest Mall has contracted with 20th Century Fox Films to display various modules showing scenes, from the movie and artists conceptions of the show's characters.

As shoppers view the Star Wars displays, a special audio system will let them hear conversations by Darth Vader and C3PO. In addition to the Mall displays, many merchants have decorated store fronts and windows with Star Wars merchandise. During the course of the Sidewalk Sale on Thursday, hundreds of Star Wars prizes will be given away. Some of the products include posters, toothbrushes, playdesks, lunch boxes, pajamas, models, beauty kits and mugs all depicting the Star Wars theme. Storzer says shoppers will not only take advantage of great savings on summer goods but will also be fascinated by the delightful displays created for the event.

the new food store has expanded its line of baked goods. Car-ryouts on submarine sandwiches are also available. According to Steve Boone, the sandwiches include hot and cold subs made to order while customers wait and view the preparation. Boone says the variety allows customers unlimited selection of fresh meats, cheeses and fixings. The Tiffany line of baked goods will be continued and refrigerated goods will be added.

Boone says the new addition and traditional high quality of baked goods will be available during all Mall hours in service to the Fond du Lac area. STQ 5 Construction begins at Kohl's store DIWMGC Work has begun at Forest Mall on construction of the new Kohl's Department Store. The store will occupy about 60.000 square feet of space on the far west side of the Mall in the former Montgomery Wards store. Kohl's will employ over 100 people, bringing the" total Mall employment figure to about 800. The construction is expected to end with a store opening later this year.
