Lavater FRIDAY Daily Guide The aspects are somewhat mixed for today and the week end, but here and there one should be able to find happy moments.

If you have it within you to enjoy fully simple events, there should be ample opportunities to enlarge on the delights of spring's return. Aquarians can speed up activities after the noon hour and through to Sunday jiight, but should avoid friction through the late hours between Saturday and Sunday. This is a generally unsettled period not favorable for big projects to be undertaken, or plans initiated in the coming week; better settle for keeping things moving as near routine as possible. Po'omaikalani Po'omaikalani was one of the members of his wife's family whom King Kalakaua raised from adversity to royal status when he became ruler of the kingdom of Hawaii in 1874. He gave her the European title Her Royal Highness which he considered due her because of her high blood rank.

She was a granddaughter of the last king of Kauai. Po'omaikalani (head one from heaven) Kapo'oloku (echoing sound of mourning) was born in 1838 and was three years younger than her sister, Queen Kapiolani. JUNIOR CHIEFESS She was therefore a junior chief ess to the Queen according to Hawaiian reckoning. She shared the adversity of her family until she married Ka'ahanui, senior retainer to Queen Emma. Like her sister Kapiolani, she had no children.

She was a small woman and walked with a decided limp. DIFFICULT TIME Ka'ahanui and Po'omaikalani had a difficult and embarrassing time when Queen Emma and Kalakaua became political opponents in the election of 1874. When Kalakaua and Kapiolani moved into Iolani Palace, Po'omaikalani went with them to manage the household for Kapiolani and to take her sister's place in many of the social functions. Po'omaikalani came to have great influence at court. Some said she had more influence with Kalakaua than the queen.

From your very long letter I can see that you are really troubled over your family's attitude toward your friendship with the boy you tell me about.

I advise you to see one of the advisers at the Child and Family Service, 401 South Beretania Street. Phone first for an appointment, 67-721, and tell your story to the person you see as you have told it to me. It is often a great help and comfort to unburden oneself in a heart-to-heart talk with someone who understands, and I am sure you will be greatly helped. I caution you strongly to guard against becoming despondent ond indulging in thoughts of death that is not only foolish but shows veakness of character.
