Commerce Fronts: Cold Warm we Occluded ww Stationary The National Weather Service predicts showers Tuesday from West Texas into the northern Plains and in the Midwest. Cold weather is predicted for the Northwest. Sunny, mild in forecast Pssst! Spring is here. But keep it quiet: we don't want to jinx things and have Mother Nature send a snowstorm down on There's no snow in sight in today's forecast, however, which calls for mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures peaking in the 70s, maybe even hitting 80. A ridge of high pressure over the Great Lakes should keep conditions pleasant, but as it moves east Tuesday it will open the way for moist air from the Gulf of Mexico brought in by a southerly air flow.

Tonight, skies should be partly cloudy with lows in the mid 40s to about 50, the National Service said. For Tuesday, highs again should be in the 70s, although there was a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Sunday was a glorious spring fling. Temperatures reached 84 at Hudson, 81 at Mondovi and 80 at Eau Claire, Coloma and Markesan. Under sunny skies, the mercury made it to 79 at Oshkosh, at Madison and New London, 75 at Wausau, Green Bay and Marshfield, and 68 at By The Associated Press Rhinelander and Duluth- Superior.

Overnight, under clear to partly cloudy skies, temperatures dropped 52 at Oconomowoc, 47 at Neenah, 43 at Wisconsin Rapids, 38 at Ashland and 30 at Hazelhurst. Snowmobile bill passes In an effort to clarify existing statutes concerning the carryover of snowmobile aids, the state Legislature has passed and Gov. Lee S. Dreyfus has signed into law Assembly Bill 889. Concern was expressed on the part of Wisconsin snowmobile associations over the handling of funds collected from snowmobile registration receipts, designated for two separate accounts trail aids and enforcement aids.

Department of Natural Resources included a nonstatutory provision in the biennial budget bill stating that the combined carry-over funds would be divided equally and put back into the two funds. "Snowmobilers were unhappy with this arrangement because the enforcement aids are distributed by the DNR, and the trail aids are utilized at the county level," says Rep. Earl McEssy. "Many felt the counties were getting shortchanged with the split." Assembly Bill 889, he notes, creates earmarking all unuseanguas to remain in their respective accounts after the 1981-82 fiscal year. Another snowmobile bill, AB 890, makes various changes in the snowmobile regulations.

"The most important provision of this bill is the change from $300 per mile for aids to counties for general trail development to $500 per mile," McEssy states. Another provision repeals the exemption from registration for snowmobiles used exclusively at special events. Also, snomobile dealers now require a buyer to complete an application for registration when buying a used machine. home iniprovement time Your home is probably the largest single investment you will make in a lifetime.
