WILLIS, Tommy L. 'ft'-'- YORKTOWN-Ernest Lee Sowers, age 79, died at his home on Feb.8,2012,surrounded by his family. Ernie was a Korean War survivor and recipient of the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. He and his family owned and operated Ordinary Appliance and Furniture, more than 25 years, in Gloucester County before retiring and moving to member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club and Providence Baptist Church. Illinois native, was preceded in death by his son, Ernie mother, Annis Wax Sowers; father, Bernard Sowers and his wife, well as a Culver.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marion; daughter, Angela Knight and husbandjerry; granddaughter, Taylor Knight; two sisters, Annetta Howard and Marsha Roll; two brothers, Carl Sowers and Burl ADKINS, Frederick M. BUTTS George R. CARROLL, Mary A. COBB William T. De PALM, Ruth M.

FREDERICK SUFFOLK -Frederick Michael was taken from us way too early on Wed 2012. He was the owner of Professional Painting, and was a member of Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Shearl Adkins; his mother, Patricia Breedlove and husband, Don; his father, Freddie Adkins and wife, Clarice; three daughters, Carrie Adkins-Edgar and husband, Kirk, Caitlin Adkins and April sonjravis Taylor and wife, Crystal; two sisters, Michelle Adkins, and Donna Hahnand brother, Russell Breedlove and wife, Nicki; two grandchildren, Stacie "Pork Chop" Ainsley and Talon Channing Taylor; two uncles, Charles Adkins and Robert Leonard; a brother-in-law, Steve Moore and wife, Carolyn; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth Rice.The family will WILLIAMSBURG- Ruth M.De Palm, age 79, beloved wife and mother, passed away at the Hospice House of Williamsburg on She was born on Jan. 14, 1933, in Tarboro, N.C. Ruth graduated from Huntington High School in Newport News, and soon after married her husband of 56 years, Ramon Louis De Palm Sr.

A consummate wife and mother, Ruth traveled with her family to destinations stateside and abroad, to include Germany, Italy, Japan, and Australia, to name a few. After 22 years of dutiful service, her husband retired from the U.S. Army and they made Williamsburg, their home. She is survived by her husband, Ramon Louis De Palm three sons, Ramon Louis De Palm II (Tammie Hamm De Palm), Ricardo Johannes De Palm, and Tyrae Muir De Palm; and daughters, Ramona Ruth De Palm, Romaigne Dorothea De Sha'ron "Tiny" Finney. Ruth was blessed with six grandchildren.

Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, Va. Condolences may be sent to MARY ANNE NEWPORT NEWS -Mary Anne Carroll, age 84, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9,2012. Mary Anne was born in Lynchburg, and lived in Newport News for the past 42 years. She graduated from E.C.

Glass High, in Lynchburg. There she met her husband, Ray S. Carroll, who was the love of her life. They enjoyed a happy marriage until his sudden death, at an early age, in 1972. After her husband's death, Mary Anne's entire focus in life surrounded her family.

Her grandchildren gave a new purpose to her life. She would spend hours talking to and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, that she loved so much. Her grandchildren will always remember her eagerness to play with them regardless of the activity or game. Mary Anne is survived by two sons, Ray S. Carroll Jr.

and wife, Sandra of Joseph D. Carroll and of Newport News; her brother, Robert D. WEST POINT -William Thomas Cobb 77, of West Point, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Feb. 9, 201 2. Tommy retired from the Chesapeake Corporation, after 29 years of was a member of Poroporone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Lina Cobb; and a sister, Doris. Tommy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Cobb; a daughter, Debbie; a son, Keith and his wife, Becky; grandsons, Tyler and Travis; his sisters, Virginia Davis, Elsie Reamer (Ronnie), Arlene Wooten (Joe), and Barbara Lang (James); and several nieces and nephews.

9, 2012 due to complications of a stroke. She was born in Wilmington, N.C, on April attended school in North Carolina and Newport News (graduating from Warwick High School) and received her teaching certificate from Peace College in elementary education. She taught first grade for 10 years in Newport News at Parkview Elementary and loved being a She spent the years following teaching as a homemaker and being a wife and a great mom. Her loves included crafts, quilting, cross stitch, collecting children's glass dishes and spending time with her her grandchildren. There was never any mountain she could not climb in life and she lived her faith daily! During the last six months, due to dementia, she lived at The Gloucester House and developed many friendships there as a resident.

The staff loved her and her quick unpredictable wit! She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William H. Hogge; daughter, Rebecca H. Powell and husband, Mike; son, John H. Hogge and wife, Elise; grandchildren, Sarah Rebecca Powell, Matthew James Powell, Lauren Elise Hogge GEORGE YORKTOWN George R.Butts 57, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.

He is survived by three sisters, Gail Dunn and her husband, Dwight, Janet Butts, and Eleanor Shields and her husband, Eddie; and five brothers, Arnold Butts, Richard Butts, Donald Butts and his Butts and his wife, Adrienne, and Tony Butts and his wife, Diane. He will also be MARIA M. NEWPORT NEWS- Maria M. Regenscheit died 2012. Maria was born in Santiago, Cuba, and lived in Philadelphia and Newport News.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and the St.Girard Ladies' Guild. She retired from General Electric Capital Credit after over 20 years of service. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and her infant son, William. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Caroline and son-in-law, David; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m.

MARY FITZGERALD WILLARD MARION LEVINSON KING JR. POQUOSON Mary (Marie) Fitzgerald Willard, 89, lately of Ft. Myers, Fla passed away on Feb. 1 0, 201 2, at Bayside of Poquoson. She was born in Boston, on April 1 3, 1 922, to the late James Henry Fitzgerald II and Helen Theresa Conlon.

Marie worked for the War Department during WWII, and met her first husband, the late John T. Stephens. She then worked at Combustion Air Corporation in Washington, D.C., where she met her second husband, the late Maynard J. (Jake) Willard. She finished her career with the federal government as the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Commanding Officer of Ft.

Leslie J. McNair in later the Senior Administrative Assistant to General Mark Clark at the American Battle Monuments Commission before retiring. She spent the last 18 years at Cinnamon Cove in Fort Myers, by so many friends. She came back to Virginia, in August of 201 convalescent care after a fall. She loved to travel, enjoyed playing bridge, dabbling in the stock market, and all the visits from her family.

She was also preceded in death by her brotherjames H. Fitzgerald III of Braintree, and her sister, Helen Theresa Ludwig of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Houston, Texas. Surviving are her twin sons, GLOUCESTER -Marion Levinson King 66, passed on to his heavenly home on Feb.

6, 201 2. He was born in Baltimore, on Oct. 31 1 945. Marion earned a B.S. in Business and Marketing from the University of Baltimore in June 1974.

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam War. Marion was a member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 58, Gloucester, Va. Marion was preceded in death by his father, Marion Levinson King his Foster King. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean M.

King; sonjohn King and daughter-in-law, Carol; son, Matthew King; brother, Wayne Foster King; and two grandchildren, Johanna and Erik King. Marion spent his entire working career in Gloucester County. He spent several years working with his uncle, Gilbert D. King, in his business building custom homes in Gloucester. Marion then began his business career at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science prior to his employment with Gloucester County, from which he retired as purchasing director in April 2009.

Marion enjoyed traveling, RVing, fishing, and woodworking. He was a doting grandfather to his two enjoyed taking them on camping trips..
