Nov. 26, 1973 Area obituaries David I. Farley Mrs. Angela Smink ELYSBURG David Irvin Farley, 44, of Hillcrest Drive, Elysburg, died at 12:01 Sunday morning after being stricken suddenly ill in his residence. A native of Shamokin, Mr.

Farley was born Apr. 29, 1929, son of Harry Farley, Shamokin, and the late Lillie Mae (Temple) Farley. He was graduated from Coal Township High School. Mr. Farley was the assistant manager of the A Food 1 Store, Anthra Plaza Shopping Center, Shamokin, and formerly was manager at the firm's store which was located on Spruce St.

in Shamokin. For the past eight years, Mr. Farley resided in Elysburg. The late Ralpho Township resident was married June 14, 1953, in Shamokin to the former Miss Nancy Edmunds. He attended Grace Chapel, Overlook, and was a member of Mount Tabor Lodge of Odd Fellows.

Mr. Farley completed a two-year tour of service in the armed forces during the Korean conflict. His service career included a tour of duty in Frankfort, Germany, also. Survivors include the widow, one son, David, a student at Lycoming College, Williamsport; a daughter, Karen, at home; the father, Harry Farley, Shamokin, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Leoda) Kufrovich and Mrs.

Francis Barnabe, Frackville. Farrow Funeral Directors of Shamokin are in charge of funeral arrangements. Joseph A. Faraguna SHAMOKIN Joseph A. Faraguna, 81, of 1106 W.

Mulberry was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Shamokin State General Hospital. He was ill three days. Born in Labin, Austria, Oct. 2, 1892, Mr.

Faraguna was a son of the late Matthias and Marie (Verbanas) Faraguna. He came to the United States in 1910 and lived in New York until 1915, when he moved to Shamokin. Mr. Faraguna was employed as a miner fo for 42 years and worked in mines at Burnside, Bear Valley and Cameron Collieries. He was last employed as custodian by the Coal Township School District and retired in 1960.

He was married Nov. 24, 1920, in St. Joseph's Church, Shamokin, to the former Jennie Rossnock Nacinovich. The deceased was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Fairview Fire Polish Cadets, Fairview Gun Club, Polish National Alliance Lodge and was the last surviving member of the Vienesse Club, Shamokin.

Surviving in addition to the widow are two sons, George Faraguna, Fairview, John Faraguna, Shamokin; five daughters, Mrs. Vera Rtizman and Mrs. Elsie Kelly, Shamokin, Mrs. William (Jane) Cosmer, Middletown, and Marie and Anna, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Martinchick, Jennie Baskera and Antionette Faraguna, and one brother, Dominick Faraguna all of Austria, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Kelley funeral directors, Shamokin, are in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lauretta Hatter KLINGERSTOWN Mrs. Lauretta Hatter, 49, died Saturday at 2:55 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, where she was a patient three weeks.

Born Jan. 30, 1924 at Loyalton, Mrs. Hatter was a daughter of the late Isaiah and Theresa Rinehart Williard. Mrs. Hatter was a member of St.

Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Hatter, Sept. 24, 1972. Survivors include one son, Wilson L.

Straub, Klingerstown; two grandchildren, and one brother, Perry Williard, Klingerstown. Rothermel Funeral Directors, Klingerstown R.D. are in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mabel Erdman LYKENS R.D.

1-Mrs. Mabel Erdman, 81, died Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Pottsvile Hospital, where she was a patient 27 days. Born in Klingerstown Mar. 12, 1892, Mrs.

Erdman was a daughter of the late Lewis and Lydia (Erdman) Klinger. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown R.D. Mrs. Erdman was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Erdman Jan.

7, 1957, and three sons, Arthur, Whalen and Homer, during 1972. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Erdman, Herndon R.D.; Lee Erdman, Hegins and Junior Erdman, Pillow; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Wiest, Lykens R.D., with whom Mrs. Erdman resided, 24 grandchildren, 53 greatgrandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren. Rothermel funeral directors, Klingerstown R.D. are in charge of arrangements. MOUNT CARMEL Mrs. Angela V. Smink, 70, of 431 S.

Hickory Mount Carmel, died Friday in her home. She was in ill health the past six years. Born in Mount Carmel, Oct. 18, 1903, Mrs. Smink was a daughter of the late Peter and Rachael (Gabriel) Aldrigetti.

Her husband, the late John Smink, died in 1944. Mrs. Smink attended Mount Carmel schools. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mount Carmel, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son, John, Snydertown; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Irene) Powis, Mount Carmel, three grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Clementine Nardell, Schuylkill Haven; Mrs. John (Martha) Cerami, Newark, N.J.; Mrs. June Ferrari, Newark, N.J.; Mrs.

Stanley (Mary) Chihon, Pompton Plain, N.J., and Mrs. Leo (Josephine) Macheski, Mount Carmel, and two brothers, Peter and Ben Aldrigetti, Mount Carmel. Joseph J. Stutz Funeral Directors, Mount Carmel, are in charge of arrangements. Marlin F.

Hummel SHAMOKIN Marlin F. Hummel, 67, of Hillcrest 170 E. Dewart former guest of the Gold Star Nursing Home, Danville, prior to January, 1971, died Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in his residence. Born in Sunnyside Apr.

2, 1906, Mr. Hummel was a son of the late Henry and Ida (Stitzer) Hummel. Mr. Hummel, in his early life, was employed by the Eagle Silk Mill in the reed department, and was last employed by Welker Furniture Co. for which he worked more than 35 years until his retirement in 1970.

Survivors include one brother, Lester E. Hummel, Shamokin, one niece and two grand-nephews. Jerre Wirt Blank funeral directors, Sunbury, are in charge of arrangements. George C. Boyd KULPMONT -George C.

Boyd, 611 Chestnut Kulpmont, died Saturday afternoon in Ashland State General Hospital. He was in ill health since April. Born in Shamokin, Mr. Boyd was a son of the late George and Margaret (Lewis) Boyd. He was educated in Shamokin schools.

Mr. Boyd had been a miner and drill operator. He resided in Kulpmont since 1923, and was married April 16, 1923 in Maryland to the former Josephine Reppe. Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Jean) Gudleski, Kulpmont; Mrs.

Raymond (Vivian) Kashmer, Berwick, and Mrs. Floyd (Marian) Dobson, at home; one son, John, Coatesville, and 13 grandchildren. Arrangements are in charge of Lucas Funeral Home, Kulpmont. Patrick McDonald ASHLAND Patrick J. McDonald, 917 Walnut Ashland, died Saturday in Ashland State General Hospital, where he was a patient since Oct.

30. Born in Connerton, Mr. McDonald was a son of the late Patrick and Mary (Connell) McDonald. He resided in Ashland three years and was a bulldozer operator at Raven Run Colliery until his retirement several years ago. He was a member of Saint Mauritius Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Hose Co.

and the United Mine Workers, local 257. Surviving are the widow, the former Frances Mehlbaum; one son Raymond, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Amboll, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Leo (Helen) Rusk, Ashland) two brothers, Martin and Joseph of Brooklyn. Arrangements are under direction of Frank L.

Burke Funeral Directors, 709 Center Ashland. Mrs. Maude Reitz McDOWELL, KY. Mrs. Maude Reitz, 82, a former resident of Urban, died Saturday in the Mountain Manor Nursing Home, Prestonsburg, Ky.

Born Apr. 16, 1891 at Pillow, Mrs. Reitz was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Fox) Fenstermacher. Mrs. Reitz was a member of St.

Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1942 and by a daughter, Mrs. Fred Kiehl, Apr. 10, 1973. Surviving are one son, Elford Reitz, McDowell, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two greatgreat-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs.

Call 797-3021 Mrs. Katie Chaundy' SHAMOKIN Mrs. Katie Florence Chaundy, 69, of 817 Center Tharptown, died Sunday evening at 6:40 in Shamokin State General Hospital.

Mrs. Chaundy was stricken acutely ill Friday morning and was taken to the hospital at that time. "Born in Gowen City, Nov. 15, 1904, Mrs. Chaundy was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Amelia la (Engle) Wheary.

She attended Gowen City and Shamokin public schools, and was a resident of Tharptown 32 years. Mrs. Chaundy was a member of Emmanual United Methodist Church, Tharptown, the church choir and the Puritan Bible Class. She was the widow of Harry Richard Chaundy whose death occurred Feb. 23, 1958.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Florence) Hauck, Tharptown; Mrs. Adrian (Norma) Heim, Tharptown; Mrs. James (Doris) Tyler, Tharptown, and Mrs. James (Shirley) Shumberger, Boiling Springs; three sons, Kenneth, Huntingdon; Robert, Shamokin, and Dennis, also of Shamokin; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters; Harry Wheary, Raymond Wheary and Lewis Wheary, all of Shamokin; Mrs.

Harry (Bertha) Grow, Shamokin; Mrs. Daisy Wanke, New Jersey; Mrs. Emma Rhoades, Washingtonville, and Mrs. Evelyn Arbogasy, Reading. Farrow Funeral Directors of kin are in charge of funeral arrangements.

Howard F. Bradley BURLINGTON, N.J. Howard F. Bradley, 51, of 813 Mount Columbus Park, a former resident of Brynsville, was dead on arrival Saturday at Rancosas Valley Hospital, N.J. Born in Centralia Jan.

29, 1922, Mr. Bradley was a son of the late James and Margaret Gerrity Bradley. Mr. Bradley attended St. Ignatius School, Centralia, and was graduated from Conyngham Township High School in 1941.

He was employed as a machinist by the Warner Tullytown. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus, Burlington. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Bradley served with the U.S.

Army. He was married May 28, 1955, in St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, to the former Claire Noon. Surviving, in addition to the widow, are two daughters, Denise and Diane, at home; one brother, James Bradley, Philadelphia, and four sisters, Anna and Mary Bradley, Brynsville; Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Pallard, Centralia and Mrs.

Robert Catherine Griffiths, Baltimore, Md. Stutz Funeral Directors, Centralia, are in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Helen Kirkilo kilio, 65, of 1129 Chemung Shamokin, died Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in Shamokin State General Hospital.

She had been in ill I health for some time and was hospitalized periodically, last entering the hospital Oct. 16. SHAMOKIN Mrs. Helen Marie Kir- Born in Shamokin, Sept. 15, 1908, Mrs.

Kirkilo was a daughter of the late Martin Leo and Josephine (Darencz) Ringes. She was last employed in the Bernstein factory. Mrs. Kirkilo was married Oct. 19, 1946, in St.

Michael's Church to Langin (Ben) Kirkilo. She was educated in St. Stanislaus School. The deceased was a member of St. Michael's Church, the Altar-Rosary Society, National Council of Catholic Women and Lithuanian Club Auxiliary.

Survivors, in addition to the husband, include three brothers, Leo, Joseph and Anthony, Shamokin, and five sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Kuginski, Mrs. Martin (Florence) Pajko, Mrs. George (Ann) Kinder, Mrs. Anthony (Rose) Paczkoski and Miss Agnes Ringus, Shamokin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home, Shamokin. Tickets for title game on sale in Mount Carmel MOUNT CARMEL Tickets for the Eastern Conference championship game are available at the Community Pharmacy, and Rea and Derick Drug Store for regular season ticket holders, according to Kenneth Splitt, athletic director, Mount Carmel Area School District. All season ticket holders must pick up their regular tickets no later than 9:00 p.m. Friday. Reserved seats, at $2, will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday.

General admission tickets at $1.50 and tickets at 50 cents may be obtained at the Senior High School, Roosevelt High School and Roosevelt Junior High School, Kulpmont, during regular school hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Prices for tickets are set by the Eastern Conference and the rule also states that no student tickets will be sold at the gate on Saturday. Sunbury man. sustains wound SUNBURY A 45-year-old Sunbury man was treated in the dispensary of Sunbury Community Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound of the jaw after an accidental shooting in his home. Treated and released was Richard Barnhart, 112 Memorial Acres, Sunbury.

Police said they assisted the Americus Ambulance this morning at 2:00 after receiving a telephone call for assistance. The victim was found by his wife, Martha, with a gunshot wound in the lower lower jaw jaw and area. The emerged shot through entered the cheek. Barnhart told police he was cleaning his rifle when he placed the clip in the gun and pulled the trigger, thinking the clip was empty. James Corbett Edward Leashefskie SHAMOKIN Edward J. (Foxie) Leashefskie, 59, of 1231 Tioga Shamokin, died late Saturday afternoon in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was in ill health three months and had been hospitalized 40 days in the Shamokin State and Geisinger hospitals. Born in Excelsior July 17, 1914, Mr. Leashefskie was a son of the late Alexander and Helen (Kocinski) Leashefskie.

He was a resident of Shamokin since his marriage to the former Florence Drust Nov. 23, 1940, in St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Leashefski was educated in Coal Township schools.

He was employed as a miner and was last employed by Northumberland County. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and the Lithuanian Club. Survivors include the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Dolores) Smith and one son Edward J.

Leashefskie, Shamokin, two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Wally (Eleanor) Paul, Warrington. Kelley Funeral directors, Shamokin, are in charge of arrangements. SHOPPING DAYS LEFT Two injured as hood of auto pops open SHAMOKIN Two young persons were injured in an unusual traffic accident at 5:10 p.m. Saturday along Legislative Route 49028 in Rockefeller Twp. one mile south of Sunbury. Raymond J. Kearney of the Shamokin state police said Arthur W.

Pennycoff, 17, of 133 Linden Sunbury, was driving west on the highway when the hood of his car popped open. The operator lost control and the vehicle ran off the south side of the highway, veered back onto the road and rolled off the north side of the highway into a corn field. It traveled another 25 feet until it fell into a 12-foot ditch. Pennycoff and a passenger, Kevin M. Buckles, 18, of 724 N.
