Besides cotton the South produces nearly all the, tobacco, of the.

staves and lumber, several -millions in breadstufls, a considerable share of the pro visions, tallow and petroleum, and many of the living animals, sumcient to bring up the amount of Southern exports for the year to nearly two hundred and eighty millions. Of our Agricultural Implements the largest purchaser was the Argentine Republic, $186,000. The next was England, the third, Brazil, the fourth, Australia, Canada and other British Poses-sions and islands were buyers to the extent of $170,000. Large sales were also made to Cuba, Mexico, Columbia, Chili and Uruguay. Of the Living Animals more than three-fourths were exported to Canada, the British North American Possessions and the West Indies.

The British West Indies bought to the value of $383 Mexico, $147,000. The Breadstuff consisted of wheat tq. the value of $47,171,229 flour $21,169,593 Indian corn and corn meal $2,223,251 bread and biscuit $581,046 baTley $140,512. Great Britain and colonies were the chief purchasers, receiving our wheat to the value of $44,000,000 and our wheat flour to the value of $18,000,000. Brazil bought flour to the value of Cuba $887,000, China $782,000, San Domingo $377,000, Porto Rico $440,000.

Of the bread and biscuit $348,000 worth was sold to the British West Indies. Canada was the largest purchaser of Indian corn, $576,000, and Cuba the second, $203,000. Nearly half of the com meal was taken by the British West Indies. As com pared with the exports of 1869, wheat is nearly double, flour increased one- sixth, corn meal decreased $700,000, corn decreased $5,500,000, bread and biscuit slightly decreased, and barley nearly trebled. Of our Cotton the value of was taken by Great Britain, by France, $20,000,000 by the German Zolverein, $6,600,000 by Spain and $3,481,000 by Russia The exports of the fiscal year 1870 exceed those of 1869 by about $64,000,000.

The export of cotton goods declined about $2, 000,000. China -purchased $526,172 against $2,327,792 in 1869. Of Boots and Shoes the largest pur chaser was Mexico, $117,000. The exports were, less than those of 1869 by $56,000, Of our Naval Store England and Scotland bought $888,000, Germany $357,000, Holland $81,000, Canada 806,000, and Austria $55,000. Our exported Oil Cake almost all went to Great Britain and the British West Indies.

Of our Crude Petroleum France was the largest purchaser, $1,414,171. Tie purchases of Belgium amounted to $290,782, and those of the German Zolverein.to $197,173. Of Befined Petroleum, the third in Value of our great exports, the Zolverein bought $0,330,822, Belgium $4,582,184, Gibralter $2,439,667, England and Ireland $2,550,000, Holland $2,145,000, Italy $1,351,000, Spain $1,236,000, France $906,000, Austria $630,000. While the export of coalH oil has decreased $400,000, and that of crude petroleum, $740,000, that of refined petroleum has increased $2,500,000 over that of 1860. Of our exported Provisions the amount for Hams and Bacon was $6423,113, Beef $1,939,778, Pork Butter $592,229, Cheese Lard $5,93397, making a total of nearly twenty-seven This added to the amount of our exported breadstuffs makes nearly one hundred millions of dollars worth of food contributed by the United States to otherun tries in a single year, besides contributing the raw material for their cJfthinLto the value of hundred and twenty-seven millions of dollars.

The exports to England and Scotland were of Hams and Ba con $5321,000, of Beef $1,062,000, of Pork $563,000, of Cheese $7,780,000, and of Lard $1,793,000. provis ions bought by Cuba amounted to by the Zdlrerein $1,216,627, by San Domingo $603,862..
